About the role

The Engagement Coordinator is a key member of the Engagement team at Dublin City Council Culture Company. The role supports the delivery and coordination of Engagement programmes, helping to create opportunities for people across Dublin to connect with culture, with each other and with the places where they live.

Working efficiently, effectively and collaboratively with the Engagement team, you will coordinate and deliver Tea & Chats, Culture Club and Culture Club Projects, three core strands of the Engagement Programme. You will work across multiple sites, communities and formats, ensuring that programmes are well organised, welcoming and engaging for participants.

You will work directly with participants, partners, community groups, artists and cultural organisations, helping to create opportunities for people to explore culture, make and experience culture together, develop their cultural confidence and build connections with others.

The role involves both practical programme coordination and direct engagement with people. You will facilitate conversations, workshops, activities and cultural visits, while developing relationships with participants and communities and responding to their interests, ideas and experiences.

About the Engagement Function

The Engagement function develops ways for people to access cultural activities with greater ease and confidence, helping them develop and grow their cultural habits.

The Engagement team actively listens to the people of Dublin and values their perspectives on the city and cultural life. Working with children and young people, individuals, community groups, cultural partners and stakeholders, the team creates opportunities for everyone to explore and experience culture across the city.

The team works closely with all our teams across the Company and our programme partners, sharing insights and ensuring a consistent, informed approach to public engagement, learning and education.

Tea & Chats is an ongoing programme of informal and open conversations over a cup of tea with people about what matters to them. By listening and connecting, we can build relationships, collaborate and suggest ways for people to explore the city’s culture.

Culture Club is a series of hosted talks, tours, workshops, and performances that introduce people to galleries, libraries, museums and creative places across Dublin City. Working closely with our partners, we create opportunities for people to access cultural activity more easily and confidently, develop their cultural habits, and connect with the city and each other.

Culture Club Projects creates ways for people to make culture together, shaped by their ideas and interests. We connect people with artists, libraries, museums and cultural organisations across the city. Through workshops and activities within communities or at cultural venues, people can discover new interests, share different ideas, build connections and explore their own creativity.

Key Focus Areas

• Programme Delivery and Facilitation: Coordinate and deliver Tea & Chats, Culture Club and Culture Club Projects across a range of sites, settings and formats. Facilitate informal conversations, workshops and cultural activities, creating welcoming, accessible and engaging experiences for participants
• Audience Development and Relationship Building: Build and develop relationships with participants, individuals, community groups, artists and partners. Create opportunities for people to connect with culture and each other, and develop pathways for continued cultural engagement.
• Listening, Learning and Programme Development: Listen to participants and communities, particularly through Tea & Chats, and use their experiences, interests, ideas and feedback to inform programme delivery and development. Capture and share learning across the Company and identify opportunities to connect people with relevant cultural programmes, partners and opportunities.

Position summary

Post Title: Engagement Coordinator Dublin City Council Culture Company

Post Status:Fixed Term Contract (full-time), 3 years, a 6 month probationary period applies.

Location:Dublin City Council Culture Company HQ, 14 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1 and Richmond Barracks, Inchicore, Dublin 8

Reports to:Engagement Manager

Key relationships:You will work closely with the Engagement team and teams across the Company, as well as artists, cultural partners, community groups, participants, stakeholders and other programme partners.

Salary:€34,811 gross per annum.

Pension:All employees who meet the requirements will be auto-enrolled in the Government My Future Fund retirement saving scheme when they begin work. Upon completion of their six month probationary period, staff will be eligible to join the company scheme. Dublin City Council Culture Company offers a personal retirement savings account (PRSA) scheme, where the company will match employee contributions of up to 10% of salary Employees may choose to remain in the MyFutureFund scheme once they have completed their probation or to opt out and join the company pension scheme.

2. Audience Development and Engagement

• Support the development of new and existing audiences and participants across Tea & Chats, Culture Club and Culture Club Projects.
• Build relationships with individuals, community groups, organisations and partners across Dublin, developing new connections and supporting existing relationships.
• Listen to participants and respond to what we hear, using their experiences and feedback to inform programme delivery and development.
• Ensure participants feel welcomed, comfortable, valued and supported to engage with culture in ways that are meaningful to them.
• Support approaches that encourage sustained participation, connection and confidence in engaging with cultural activity.

3. Programme Coordination and Administration

• Manage the day-to-day administration associated with Tea & Chats, Culture Club and Culture Club Projects, including scheduling, bookings, participant communications and other practical arrangements.
• Respond to programme queries by phone, email, text and other appropriate communication channels, providing clear, timely and welcoming information.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of the processes, materials and ways of working that support effective Engagement programme delivery.
• Maintain accurate programme data, records and archives, and provide written reports and updates on activities as required.
• Support communications and advocacy opportunities for assigned programmes and the wider Company as requested.

4. Working Across the Company and with Partners

• Work collaboratively with the Engagement team and colleagues across the Company to support the delivery and development of programmes and activities.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with cultural partners, community groups, artists, venues and other stakeholders.
• Build networks and share information, contacts and learning across the Company to support audience development and wider cultural participation.
• Share learning from Tea & Chats conversations, Culture Club and Culture Club Projects to contribute to the ongoing development of the Company’s Engagement work.
• Contribute to the development of accessible and inclusive approaches across Engagement programmes, keeping accessibility, clear communication and participant experience at the forefront of programme delivery.
• Support relationships between community groups and cultural partners, helping to create opportunities for longer‑term cultural engagement.

• A minimum of two years’ relevant or transferable experience planning, coordinating and delivering engagement, learning or participation programmes and/or projects (which may include community or cultural projects – or similar).
• Experience of successfully engaging and facilitating with people and groups, creating welcoming and inclusive opportunities for participation, conversation and connection.
• Experience of building and developing relationships with community groups, arts / cultural organisations, artists, or other stakeholders.
• Experience of listening to participants and responding to their interests, experiences and feedback in the development or delivery of programmes or activities.
• Excellent IT, data-management and reporting skills, with experience maintaining accurate programme records and using digital systems to support programme delivery.
• An understanding of the work of Dublin City Council Culture Company and its ambitions.
• Experience working in community, cultural, arts, heritage, museum or related sectors.
