Job summary

CoAction West Cork is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for Skibbereen Day Services on a permanent part-time basis (13 hours per week). You will support instructors and coordinators, assist with personal care, and help deliver vocational and recreational activities in a respectful, person-centred manner.

Essential qualifications include QQI Level 5 in Healthcare and a full clean Irish driving licence. The role offers opportunities for training within a supportive team and a commitment to equal

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification.
• Full Clean Irish Manual Drivers Licence.
• Ability to build positive relationships with the people we support.
• Ability to carry out intimate and personal care.
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written / IT.
• Ability to work well within a team and on your own initiative.
• Advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Be aware of each person’s individuality and communication needs.
• Treat users with dignity and respect at all times.
• Promote a friendly, supportive environment in the centre.
• Encourage greater independence according to ability level.
• Provide high standard of care and develop caring relationships.
• Incorporate each person’s interests into daily programmes.
• Assist with personal care (clothing, feeding, toileting, hygiene).
• Report accidents, incidents and complaints promptly.
• Advocate for people using the service and participate in activities.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with staff.
• Assist in maintenance of the centre/group home and follow policies.
• Ensure safety, health & safety awareness, and PPE use.
• Drive company vehicles as required and participate in training.
