Job summary

Ei Electronics in Shannon, Ireland, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to contribute to life safety and connected home products. You will design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software from concept to product release, collaborating with Hardware, RF, Validation and Quality teams on reliable, secure systems.

The role involves working with MCUs, C/C++, RTOS such as Zephyr/FreeRTOS, Embedded Linux, and wireless stacks (BLE, Wi‑Fi, Thread).

Qualifications

• Degree in Software Engineering, CS, Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong C/C++ skills; Python desirable; exposure to Rust advantageous.
• Experience across embedded platforms (MCU/RTOS/Linux/bare-metal).
• Familiarity with wireless protocols and hardware-software integration.
• Proficient with debugging tools and version control (Git).
• Experience with RTOS such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS and embedded Linux.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for new and existing products.
• Develop software for microcontroller-based systems using C/C++.
• Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, and technical decisions.
• Implement and debug embedded applications, drivers, and communication protocols.
• Support wireless technologies such as BLE, Matter, Thread, Wi‑Fi, and RF protocols.
• Develop unit, integration, and system-level testing and perform root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Hardware, RF, Validation, Compliance, and Manufacturing teams.
• Contribute to software quality initiatives, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Maintain technical documentation, specifications, and design records.
