Job summary

MSS Recruitment Ltd in Cork is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a leading bakery business. You will join a stable, long-established operation that produces quality bakery products and values engineering excellence.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults on mixers, conveyors and control panels, and drive improvements with a CMMS. A Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics qualification and 2+ years in a food-manufacturing maintenance role are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years in a maintenance engineering role within food manufacturing, FMCG or similar production environment.
• Recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (Advanced Craft Certificate or equivalent).
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance and continuous improvement techniques.
• Proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of OEE, HACCP and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the production facility.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on bakery equipment ( mixers, conveyors, provers, motors, control panels ).
• Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, efficiency and plant performance.
• Conduct root cause analysis to eliminate recurring equipment failures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.
• Install machine upgrades and carry out equipment modifications.
• Coordinate with production teams to plan maintenance and minimise downtime.
• Record maintenance activities in the CMMS and manage engineering spare parts.

What You'll Be Doing

• Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across our production facility.


• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on bakery equipment including mixers, conveyors, provers, motors, control panels and associated systems.


• Identifying opportunities to improve machine reliability, efficiency and overall plant performance.


• Conducting root cause analysis to eliminate recurring equipment failures.


• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects.


• Installing machine upgrades and carrying out equipment modifications.


• Working closely with production teams to plan maintenance activities and minimise downtime.


• Recording maintenance activities through our maintenance management system (CMMS).


• Helping manage engineering spare parts and ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards.


• Maintaining excellent health & safety and food safety standards at all times.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, takes pride in solving problems, and wants to make a genuine contribution to a successful manufacturing business. You'll ideally have:

• A recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (Advanced Craft Certificate or equivalent).


• At least two years' experience in a maintenance engineering role within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment.


• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.


• Experience reading electrical schematics and pneumatic diagrams.


• Knowledge of preventative maintenance and continuous improvement techniques.
