Job summary

Risk Management Ireland is seeking an experienced electrician to join our team across Ireland. The role involves inspection, testing, installation, maintenance and fault-finding of electrical installations in commercial, residential and industrial environments.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Electrical is required.
• National Craft Certificate with completed electrical apprenticeship is required.
• Experience in periodic inspection, testing and fault diagnosis is essential.
• Strong IS 10101:2020+A1:2024 knowledge and Irish electrical safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Carry out periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations in line with I.S. 10101.

• Perform authorised remedial, installation, maintenance and fault-finding work with safe isolation.

About the role

Risk Management Ireland is seeking an experienced, suitably qualified electrician to join our growing team. The role covers a varied portfolio of commercial, residential communal, industrial and property management environments throughout Ireland.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving the inspection, testing, installation, maintenance, fault finding and repair of electrical installations and equipment. The successful candidate will be supported by the wider Risk Management Ireland team while taking responsibility for delivering safe, professional and compliant work across our client’s assets.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations in line with personal competence and associated documentation in accordance with I.S. 10101.
• Identify defects and electrical safety risks; apply the appropriate classification or priority; and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations for remedial action.
• Complete authorised remedial, installation, maintenance, fault-finding and repair work, including safe isolation, proving dead and controlled re-energisation.
• Inspect and test in-service portable electrical equipment where required, using an appropriate risk-based approach and approved procedures.
• Produce accurate test results, schedules, certificates, reports, photographs and other job records, and promptly communicate any serious or immediate danger identified.
• Work safely in occupied and operational premises, protecting occupants and property while minimising disruption.
• Follow risk assessments, method statements, permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, lone-working and client-specific safety arrangements.
• Liaise professionally with clients, facilities teams, contractors and colleagues, and maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and customer service.
• Participate in training and continuous improvement and undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the role and competence level.

Essential qualifications and experience

• QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Electrical, National Craft Certificate having completed an electrical apprenticeship and relevant post-apprenticeship experience.
• Demonstrable competence and recent experience in periodic inspection, testing and fault diagnosis of electrical installations.
• Strong working knowledge of I.S. 10101:2020+A1:2024 and applicable Irish electrical safety requirements.
• Ability to interpret drawings, distribution schedules, manufacturers’ information and previous test documentation.
• Competence in selecting and safely using appropriate inspection and test instruments and accurately interpreting results.
• Working knowledge of safe isolation, electrical risk assessment, RAMS, permits to work and relevant Irish workplace safety requirements.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate and complete electronic and written records.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage a field workload, while knowing when to seek input or raise matters with the wider team.
• Experience working in professional, client-facing environments where discretion, communication, presentation and minimising disruption are important.
• A full, clean Category B driving licence and ability to travel to client sites, as driving is an essential part of this field-based role.
• Current eligibility to work in Ireland.

Certification Requirements

• Hold a recognised Electrical Verification and Certification qualification that is current within the renewal period required by Safe Electric.
• The successful candidate must be eligible and willing to act as the REC's named Qualified Certifier, supporting the business in meeting its verification, certification and Safe Electric responsibilities.

Experience that would be particularly valuable

• Design, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, fault-finding and repair of emergency lighting systems in accordance with I.S. 3217:2023, as applicable.
• Electrical thermographic inspection, including safe image capture, interpretation of findings and preparation of clear thermography reports.
• In-service inspection and testing of portable electrical equipment (PAT), including equipment identification, record keeping and reporting of defects.
• Experience working across large residential developments, commercial premises and industrial environments, particularly within occupied buildings or managed property portfolios.
• Electrical remedial works arising from periodic inspection reports, and coordination within live or occupied buildings.

Additional experience that would be an advantage

• Experience working on fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with I.S. 3218:2024, within the candidate's competence and any applicable commissioning or certification arrangements.
• Experience using digital job-management, inspection or reporting systems.

Working arrangements

The role involves regular travel, work at client premises and, depending on the agreed service model, may occasionally include early starts, work outside normal hours or occasional overnight stays. Appointment will be subject to verification of qualifications, driving licence, references and any client‑mandated screening relevant to the sites served.
