Job summary

Instrotec Ltd in Trim is seeking an Electrical Quantity Surveyor to oversee commercial management of electrical packages from start to final account. You will work with the Project Manager, site team, client and subcontractors to keep projects on budget and profitable.

The position requires 3–5+ years in electrical QS, strong knowledge of NEC/FIDIC/JCT and Excel, and experience on data centres or pharmaceutical projects. Full-time on-site role with immediate start.

Qualifications

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–5+ years of experience as Electrical Quantity Surveyor in construction or M&E sectors.
• Experience on large-scale projects (Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Industrial or Commercial).
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and contract forms (NEC, FIDIC, JCT).

Responsibilities

• Full evaluation and interpretation of project contract documents.
• Plan and examine supplier and sub-contractor enquiries.
• Provide accurate valuations in a timely manner.
• Prepare and distribute contract documents to the supply chain.
• Review changes and pricing variations; finalize monthly claims.
• Maintain records of claims, certificates and retentions.
• Control sub-contractor accounts and prepare monthly reports.
• Forecast project cash flow and financial risk analyses.
• Collaborate with PM and site team to ensure budget control.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team, and work across our projects.

Role Overview

The Electrical QS will be responsible for the commercial management of electrical packages of projects from commencement through to final account. Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Management Team, Client, and Subcontractors, the Electrical QS ensures the project is delivered within budget while maximising profitability and maintaining strong commercial controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Full evaluation and interpretation of project contract documentation.
• Planning and examining supplier and sub-contractor enquiries.
• Providing precise, competitive and cost-effective valuations in a timely manner.
• Preparation and distributing of contract documents to our supply chain.
• Examining change in our scope of work and completion of pricing variations.
• Preparing and agreeing Monthly progress claims.
• Maintenance of accurate records of claims prepared, certificates issued and of retentions involved.
• Commercial and contractual control of sub-contractor accounts.
• Preparation and delivery of monthly commercial project reports
• Provide Information and analysis of issues & risks as required by Management.
• Management and forecasting of project cash flow
• All other duties associated with this role.
• Degree or Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3-5+ years' experience in an Electrical Quantity Surveyor role within the construction or M&E sector.
• Experience working on large-scale projects such as Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Industrial, or Commercial developments. A comprehensive understanding of work contracts.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methodologies, and commercial management principles.
• Excellent knowledge of contract forms (NEC, FIDIC, JCT, or similar).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with cost management and commercial reporting software is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced site environment.
