Job summary

GEDON™ | Precision Search for Complex Construction is seeking a skilled Estimator to join its growing pre-construction team in Dublin. The role focuses on preparing accurate electrical and mechanical building services estimates, with take-offs, quotation evaluation, and tender submissions for high-value projects including data centres.

You will work closely with engineering, commercial and delivery teams, developing estimating processes and expanding expertise in a technically demanding market.

Qualifications

• Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or PQS/cost management.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong numerical, analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Based in or commutable to Dublin.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for electrical and mechanical building services packages.
• Carry out detailed take-offs and measurement from drawings and specifications.
• Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Liaise with engineering and design teams to clarify scope and technical requirements.
• Support the preparation of tender submissions, ensuring accuracy and commercial competitiveness.
• Analyse project costs and margins to inform pricing strategy.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates, material costs and industry trends.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of estimating processes and tools.

Working Environment & Projects

You will join a growing estimating team working across a varied portfolio of electrical and mechanical building services projects, with exposure to some of the most technically demanding developments in the Irish market, including live data centre schemes.

This is a genuinely collaborative environment, working closely with engineering, commercial and delivery teams throughout the tender and pre-construction process. You will gain broad exposure to the full estimating lifecycle, from initial enquiry and take-off through to final tender submission.

The business is particularly open to candidates moving across from an engineering or PQS background, offering structured support and mentoring for those making the transition into a dedicated estimating role, within a culture that values technical curiosity and a genuine interest in numbers and detail.

• Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a PQS / cost management discipline
• Strong numerical, analytical and attention-to-detail skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise across engineering, commercial and delivery teams
• A proactive, self-motivated approach and genuine interest in developing an estimating career
• Based in or commutable to Dublin
