Job summary

Jones Engineering seeks an Electrical Estimator based in Damastown, Co. Dublin. You will work with the estimating team and engineers to support tendering on large-scale projects across multiple sectors.

The role requires a related Engineering qualification and 1–2 years estimating experience, with exposure to data centre projects advantageous. Strong teamwork and MS Excel skills are essential for success.

Responsibilities

• Assist in tendering for large-scale projects across industries.
• Liaise with stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
• Inform managers of bid prospects and attend pre/post tender interviews.
• Attend site walks with the construction team.
• Assemble subcontract quotes meeting specifications.
• Participate in internal and client meetings as required.
• Perform quantity take-offs for electrical installations.
• Cover power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, data, security, and containment systems.

Job Description

As an Electrical Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in our project development and implementation process. You will work closely with the Estimating team as well as a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industry experts to deliver cutting-edge projects. Current requirements allow for a base in our Damastown office, Co. Dublin.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in tendering on a variety of large-scale projects in a variety of industries.
• Liaising with relevant parties on an on-going basis.
• Informing managers of bid prospects.
• Attending pre and post tender interviews.
• Attending site walks with construction team
• Assemble sub-contract quotes while ensuring they comply with the spec.
• Attend meetings both internal and client based where required.
• Perform quantity take-offs for electrical installations including the below.
• Power distribution systems, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, data and communication systems, security and access control systems & containment systems

This role will provide exposure to a wide range of sectors. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge and skills as their responsibilities grow and evolve.

Skills and Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Related qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• 1-2 years of experience in an estimating role.
• Trade background would be advantageous.
• Experience in data centre projects is advantageous, demonstrating your understanding of industry best practices and technologies.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Some knowledge of MS Office systems and MS Excel required.
• Experience using estimating software such as Trimble/Cost X/Bluebeam or similar.
• Demonstrated appetite for continuous learning and personal development.
