Job summary

Jones Engineering seeks an Electrical Estimator to support tender development and implementation for large-scale projects in Cork, based at Little Island. You will work with a Bid Manager and a multidisciplinary team to deliver accurate electrical estimates and take-offs.

The role offers visibility across diverse projects, opportunities for CPD and career progression within a long-established engineering contractor.

Qualifications

• This role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with tendering and estimation in construction/engineering projects is preferred.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Tendering on large-scale projects across multiple sectors.
• Oversee full tender process from start to finish.
• Prepare Electrical LV, MV & HV tender packages.
• Liaise with stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
• Attend pre/post tender interviews as required.
• Assemble sub-contract quotes meeting specifications.
• Attend internal and client meetings as needed.
• Take-offs from tender drawings and estimates.
• Utilise estimating software packages.

Job Description

As Electrical Estimator, you will play a role in our project development and implementation process. You will work closely with the Bid Manager as well as a multidisciplinary team of engineers and industry experts to deliver cutting-edge projects. Current requirements allow for a base in our Cork office.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Tendering on a variety of large-scale projects in multiple sectors.
• Involved in full tender process from beginning to completion.
• Electrical LV, MV & HV tender packages.
• Liaising with relevant parties on an on-going basis.
• Attending pre and post tender interviews.
• Assemble sub-contract quotes while ensuring they comply with the spec.
• Attend meetings both internal and client based where required.
• Completing take-offs from tender drawings.
• Using estimating software packages.

This role will provide exposure to a wide range of projects. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge and skills as their responsibilities grow and evolve.

Skills and Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Degree Qualification / Graduate in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or Construction Management considered.
• Trade background may also be considered with relevant project / role experience.
• Experience in construction / engineering / utilities is advantageous.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office systems required.
• Demonstrated appetite for continuous learning and personal development.
