Job summary

Osmii is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for its Data Centre team in Ireland. You will oversee design reviews, reliability and performance across hyperscale facilities, guiding QA/QC and commissioning activities from design through handover.

You will collaborate with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure MV/LV distribution, UPS and power systems meet the highest standards, and you will mentor junior staff while expanding the technical advisory capability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Chartered Engineer status or active pursuit is expected.
• 10+ years in electrical building services or data centre environments.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators and protection systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design reviews and technical assurance activities.
• Review calculations, specifications and contractor submissions.
• Assess resilience, redundancy strategies and operational performance.
• Review shop drawings, commissioning docs and FAT/IST activities.

Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Centres

Location: Ireland

A leading building and engineering consultancy is expanding its team with an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Centres to support the delivery of major hyperscale data centre developments across Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer looking to move beyond traditional design and take on a technical advisory role, overseeing quality, resilience and performance across large-scale, mission-critical projects.

You will join a specialist data centre delivery team, providing independent technical reviews, QA/QC oversight, commissioning support and Employer's Representative services on some of the most technically demanding projects in Ireland.

The role offers exposure to projects throughout the full lifecycle, from design and construction through to commissioning and handover. You will help ensure electrical systems are designed, installed, tested and commissioned to the highest standards, meeting client requirements and industry best practice.

You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, commissioning teams and specialist vendors to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design reviews and technical assurance activities.
• Review electrical calculations, specifications and technical submissions.
• Assess system resilience, redundancy strategies and operational performance.
• Review contractor shop drawings and commissioning documentation.
• Support the resolution of technical queries and Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Undertake site inspections and construction quality reviews.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings.
• Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), commissioning activities and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Review energisation strategies and operational readiness plans.
• Support project handover, documentation reviews and technical close-out activities.
• Provide technical input into risk reviews and value engineering exercises.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership.
• 10+ years' experience in electrical building services, mission-critical facilities or data centre environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of:
• Medium and Low Voltage (MV/LV) distribution systems
• Generators and standby power systems
• Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
• Switchgear and transformers
• Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
• Electrical protection systems
• Power monitoring and control systems
• Commissioning and testing processes
• Experience reviewing electrical designs, calculations and contractor technical submissions.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage technical reviews across multiple projects.

Desirable Experience

• Previous involvement in data centre project delivery.
• Experience witnessing FAT, SAT and IST activities.
• Background in QA/QC, Employer's Representative or technical advisory roles.
• Experience working on hyperscale or colocation data centre facilities.
• Exposure to operational readiness and commissioning support.
• Experience spanning design, construction and commissioning phases of major projects.
