Job summary

JAM is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to work on large-scale data centre projects in Ireland. The role involves developing designs across power distribution, controls, ICT, security, monitoring and fire detection, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will produce calculations, specifications, reports and design documents while ensuring compliance with EN/IEC standards and BS7671. Domestic and international travel is required as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3-5 years' electrical design engineering experience.
• Experience in data centres or mission-critical environments; 1-2 years on data centre projects desirable.
• Knowledge of EN/IEC standards and BS7671.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

Looking to develop your electrical design career on large-scale data centre projects?

We're recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join an engineering team delivering hyperscale and mission-critical projects. You'll contribute to complex electrical designs, work alongside experienced engineers and collaborate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

The role

• Develop electrical designs covering power distribution, controls, ICT, security, monitoring and fire detection systems.
• Produce technical calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation.
• Carry out electrical system studies and analyses using relevant engineering software.
• Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines, clients, vendors and contractors.
• Support design reviews, value engineering and technical problem-solving.
• Ensure designs meet relevant electrical standards, Building Regulations and project requirements.
• Maintain accurate project records and support quality assurance throughout delivery.

What you’ll bring

• A diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3-5 years' electrical design engineering experience.
• Experience in data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial or other mission-critical environments; 1-2 years on data centre or mission-critical projects is desirable.
• Strong understanding of electrical power systems and design principles.
• Knowledge of relevant ETCI/BS7671 requirements, EN/IEC standards and industry design guides.
• Experience with relevant design and analysis tools, such as Amtech, ETAP, EPLAN P8, AutoCAD, Revit or Navisworks.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail and confidence working with project stakeholders.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and willingness to travel.

Membership of Engineers Ireland, IET or a similar professional body, and progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.
