Job summary

HBHR is seeking a dedicated childcare professional for a full-time creche position in Ballycummin, Limerick. You will plan, implement and assess daily learning activities, while building positive relationships with children and families.

The role requires a Level 5 childcare qualification and a strong focus on safety, confidentiality and high-quality care. You will work under the Creche Manager, contribute to programme evaluations, and support audit processes.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a minimum FETAC/QQI Major Award Level 5 in Childcare or related field.
• Possess a high regard for and practice good health and safety procedures at all times.
• Passionate about delivering outstanding care to children and be a committed, patient and caring person.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and assess children’s daily learning and development based on their interests and needs.
• Demonstrate initiative and creativity in planning and communicating activities and educational frameworks.
• Participate in evaluation of programmes to ensure children's needs are met.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with children, families and staff based on respect and confidentiality.
• Report concerns to supervisor and advocate for children and employees as required.
• Liaise with other agencies in childcare to promote children's welfare.
• Represent the creche at meetings and conferences when necessary.
• Maintain awareness of childcare concerns that may impact the creche.
• Keep indoor and outdoor play and dining areas neat, presentable and hygienic.
• Assist management during audits/inspections.

Establish and maintain professional relationships and communication with all children, their families and staff that are based on respect, equality, diversity and confidentiality.

Engage in the development and implementation of high quality learning and development programs for children, in line with Aistear: the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework and Síolta, the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education.

Reports to:Creche Manager

Duties & Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Plan, implement and assess the children’s daily learning, activities and development based on their interests and needs, being flexible to change based on interests, attitudes and needs of the children both on an individual and group basis.
• Express and deliver initiative and creativity in the planning, organising and communication of all activities, programmes and educational frameworks.
• Participate in the evaluation of the programmes on a regular basis to ensure the needs of the children are being met as far as possible by the crèche.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with all children, their families and staff that are based on respect, equality, diversity and confidentiality.
• Report any concerns/complaints to the supervisor/manager (verbally and in writing) and act as an advocate for all children and employees when required.
• Liaise with other agencies and professionals in the childcare sector, promoting the welfare of children.
• Represent the crèche at meetings/conferences when necessary, e.g. case conferences, childcare network meetings, etc.
• Have an awareness and knowledge of childcare concerns/issues that may have an impact on the creche and quality of care for the children.
• Maintain indoor and outdoor play and dining areas in a neat, presentable and hygienic state.
• Support and assist the management team during internal and external audits/inspections.

Education & Qualifications

• Must have completed a minimum full FETAC/QQI Major Award Level 5 in Childcare or related field.
• Previous working experience in childcare within a crèche environment is desirable.
• Possess a high regard for and practice good health and safety procedures at all times.
• Passionate about delivering outstanding care to children and be a committed, patient and caring person with a sense of fun and a positive outlook on life.
