Rainbow Childcare Nenagh is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable person to join our School Age Club team for children from 1st Class to 6th Class. The role involves school collections, driving duties, homework support, and direct engagement with children in a club-style after-school environment.

Qualifications

• Garda Vetting and employment checks will apply.
• Full clean Irish driving licence required.
• Basic level of Irish (Gaeilge) and able to help with Irish homework.
• Experience with children or young people is an asset.
• Qualifications in School Age Childcare, Education, Youth Work, Sports, Coaching welcome.

Responsibilities

• Collect children from local schools and transport them safely to the service.

Job description

Rainbow Childcare is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and outgoing person to join our School Age Club team, working with children from 1st Class through to 6th Class.

This is not a traditional childcare role. We are continuing to develop our School Age service into a relaxed, welcoming, club-style environment, particularly for our older children, somewhere they genuinely enjoy coming after school, where they can spend time with friends, relax, complete their homework and take part in activities that interest them.

The Role
The position will include school collections/driving duties, homework support, and working directly with children within our School Age Club.

Duties will include:

• Collecting children from local schools and transporting them safely to our service
• Supervising and engaging with children from 1st Class to 6th Class
• Supporting children with their daily homework
• Providing support with Irish/Gaeilge homework, so a basic level of Irish would be a strong advantage
• Helping children develop positive homework routines and encouraging greater independence as they get older
• Planning activities based on the children’s interests, including sports, games, arts, music, projects and social activities
• Helping to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment appropriate to older children
• Encouraging children to have a genuine say in the activities offered and how their club operates
• Building positive and respectful relationships with the children
• Supporting children’s independence, confidence and social development
• Maintaining appropriate boundaries while creating a fun and welcoming environment
• Working closely with the wider Rainbow team
• Ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing at all times

We are particularly interested in someone who can connect well with older children, bring fresh ideas to the service and help us create a club that children look forward to coming to after school.

We Would Love to Hear From Someone Who:

• Has a full clean Irish driving licence
• Is a confident and responsible driver
• Has a basic level of Irish/Gaeilge and is comfortable helping children with Irish homework
• Is confident supporting children with homework across primary age groups
• Enjoys working with older children
• Is outgoing, approachable and able to build a good rapport with children
• Can bring new ideas, interests and activities to the club
• Understands that older children need a different environment and approach than younger children
• Is reliable, responsible and works well as part of a team
• Can balance fun and independence with appropriate boundaries and supervision

Experience working with children or young people would be an advantage. Qualifications or experience in School Age Childcare, Education, Youth Work, Sports, Coaching or a related area would also be welcomed.
