Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Ireland Limited in Dublin is seeking an experienced DMS Database Engineer to diagnose complex replication failures and guide customers through production incidents across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL.

You will design large-scale migration strategies, develop test scenarios for the STP, and collaborate with software engineers to translate customer edge cases into robust fixes, while contributing to runbooks and knowledge bases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Relational database experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Scripting skills in Shell, Python or Perl
• Deep understanding of data replication (CDC, logical replication)
• Knowledge of database migration and performance tuning

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve migrations and replication failures across heterogeneous engines
• Perform root cause analysis on production incidents using logs and metrics
• Design migration strategies for large-scale customer engagements and cutovers
• Develop database-specific test scenarios for DMS STP coverage
• Collaborate with SDEs to translate customer issues into tests and fixes
• Document runbooks and knowledge base articles to aid teams
• Participate in on-call rotation and triage Sev-2/Sev-3 incidents
