Job summary

ESB is seeking a Distributed Generation Site Manager for the Dublin region to lead on-site operations and maintenance across multiple sites and technologies, including Battery Energy Storage and Gas Turbine generation. You will ensure safety, environmental obligations, and implement plant procedures while responding to alarms and issues.

Based in the Dublin area, you will coordinate contractors, manage outages, support asset optimisation, and contribute to the Net Zero by 2040 strategy.

Qualifications

• 5 years work experience in hands-on operation and maintenance of generating plant or relevant process industry.
• Technical or Engineering Qualification (preferably Mechanical/Electrical/C&I) or equivalent with plant operation/maintenance.
• Knowledge of rotating machinery and electrical fault finding.
• Strong safety and risk management focus.
• Category B driving license.

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for the onsite operations of multiple sites and technologies (e.g., Battery Energy Storage, Gas Turbine Generation) spread across the Dublin region.
• Ensure safety and environmental obligations are met for efficient operation of plant on those sites, including local operation of plant as required.
• Provide a timely on-site response to plant alarms and events both during and outside normal working hours.
• Provide fault finding response and corrective intervention to site electrical, mechanical and C&I issues
• Management of service providers and contractors onsite including performing inductions and setting to work as required.
• Manage, administer and ensure compliance with the ESB Safety Rules in operation.
• Support optimisation of lifetime O&M and asset management planning.
• Undertake/support ad hoc O&M projects as assigned
• Manage planned and unplanned site outages
• Support other Site Managers as required
• Support mobilisation of new assets in the region

Distributed Generation is a department within Renewable Operations (ESB Generation and Trading) with responsibility for the management of the Operation and Maintenance of ESB’s Distributed Generation asset portfolio. As part of delivery of the Net Zero by 2040 Strategy it is our ambition that we will generate 70% of our electricity generation from renewable assets by 2030. This includes 900MW of solar (dependent on planning and development) and also incorporates 500 MW of renewables enabling flexible generation assets including battery energy storage systems, gas turbine peaking plants and grid support devices such as synchronous condensers. Due to the projected significant expansion of the Distributed Generation portfolio over the coming years, ESB is seeking to appoint a Distributed Generation Site Manager (Dublin Region) within the Distributed Generation O&M team. The role of the Distributed Generation Site Manager is to manage all Operation and Maintenance activities on multiple sites and technologies. The role forms part of a wider team of Distributed Generation Site Managers in the Dublin region This position offers candidates an exciting opportunity to join an expanding business area and gain significant site and commercial experience. • Manage, administer and ensure compliance with the ESB Safety Rules in operation. This role may involve undertaking various roles within the ESB Safety Rules.
• Support optimisation of lifetime O&M and asset management planning.

Essential

Experience and Qualifications

• 5 years work experience in hands‑on operation and maintenance of generating plant or relevant process industry.
• A Technical or Engineering Qualification (preferably Mechanical/Electrical/C&I) or equivalent experience with plant operation or maintenance.
• Have mechanical knowledge of rotating machinery
• Have electrical knowledge including fault finding ability
• Have a strong safety and risk management focus.
• Category B driving license.

Desirable

• Trained, authorised and experienced in ESB Generation and Trading Safety Rules
• Understanding of the commercial side of the generation business
• Experience in front line maintenance activities

Location

The successful candidate will be based on site at the relevant Distributed Generation site locations in the greater Dublin region. Rotation within Distributed Generation O&M may feature as part of this role.

Salary

€59,980 - €70,564 per annum
