Job summary

ESB is seeking a driven project professional to join the Asset Development team in Dublin. You will help shape new opportunities, lead multidisciplinary project deliverables, and ensure compliance with planning, permitting and procurement processes from feasibility through to delivery.

Working with the Project Director, you will gain hands‑on exposure to the full lifecycle, collaborate across ESB, and contribute to dispatchable generation projects that support Ireland's secure, sustainable

Qualifications

• Ability to assess opportunities across technical, environmental, regulatory, market and financial factors.
• Experience working independently and taking ownership of project deliverables.
• Ability to clearly plan, communicate and present requirements, recommendations and project updates to internal and external stakeholders to progress projects and new initiatives.
• Minimum 5 years' postgraduate experience.
• Proven experience delivering projects.

Responsibilities

• Help shape new opportunities from the ground up, supporting project teams to assess and develop potential sites, new technologies and potential acquisitions.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to unlock project delivery, securing the permits, authorisations, planning approvals and connection agreements needed to move projects forward.
• Drive assigned work to ESB project management standards, balancing technical, commercial, legal, procurement and programme requirements to support successful project outcomes.
• Prepare projects to compete in evolving energy markets, including storage, capacity and system services competitions.
• Explore emerging technology areas with commercial potential and help identify where they can create value for ESB’s future portfolio.
• Support the assessment of lower‑carbon and net‑zero fuel pathways for gas turbine and dispatchable generation assets.
• Shape procurement and contract strategy, coordinating project contracts to support effective delivery.
• Champion Safe and Sound across every project, helping to embed safety, wellbeing and strong delivery behaviours from the outset.
• Build a strong, open and collaborative team culture across project teams and Asset Development.
• Investigate project and industry issues that could affect delivery, drawing clear conclusions and presenting practical recommendations to support decision‑making.
