Job summary

The Talbot Group is seeking a dedicated Disability Support Specialist to join our team in County Wicklow. You will help residents build independence, achieve personal goals and live meaningful lives within a supportive and professional environment.

Responsibilities include promoting independence, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, supporting staff development, and maintaining high safety and care standards. A QQI Level 6+ qualification and at least 2 years of experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Providing person-centred support that promotes independence, choice and participation.

• Providing guidance, support and supervision to frontline staff where appropriate.
• Supporting the induction and development of new team members.
• Coordinating appointments with the Multidisciplinary Team and families to support resident outcomes.
• Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of the service.
• Supporting residents with key-working, medication management and day-to-day care.
• Promoting a welcoming, safe and therapeutic environment.
• Maintaining accurate, confidential and comprehensive records.
• Supporting health, safety, risk management and emergency procedures in line with legislation and organisational policies.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is compassionate, confident and committed to delivering high-quality support. You should be able to work independently while also being an effective team player, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

You will need:

• A QQI Level 6 or above qualification in a relevant healthcare or social care field.


• A minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Direct Support Worker or in a related role.


• Knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation principles and techniques.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• The ability to respond effectively to changing circumstances and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.


• A full driving licence.
