Job summary

Phorest, a Dublin-based remote-first SaaS company serving hair, beauty and medspa businesses, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead Payments and Foundations.

You’ll scale infrastructure, drive AI enablement, and partner with the CTO to shape engineering strategy, invest in leadership, and deliver reliable systems across regions.

This role focuses on service excellence, security, and cross-team collaboration while growing revenue and customer value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with leadership experience.
• Desirable experience leading payments engineering and cloud platforms.
• Proven track record building reliable, scalable systems at scale.
• Strong focus on security, governance and cross-functional delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead through Heads of Engineering and senior leaders to deliver clear outcomes.
• Shape payments direction with product and business leaders for growth.
• Drive internal scaling, service improvements, and reduce bottlenecks.
• Oversee platform scalability, observability, and incident readiness.
• Lead internal AI enablement and adoption across functions.
• Partner with CTO on strategy, resourcing, and performance governance.
• Develop senior leaders, drive hiring and succession planning.
