Job summary

nineDots.io in Ireland is seeking a Senior Head of Engineering to lead payments, cloud infrastructure, security, internal systems and AI enablement. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll guide a team of Heads of Engineering, Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders to shape investment and delivery.

You’ll balance payments reliability, cloud cost, security risk and leadership development while driving automation and scalable architectures on AWS, ensuring the organisation scales with growth.

Qualifications

• Experience managing managers and developing senior engineering leaders.
• Direct experience leading payments engineering, including provider integrations, processing, reconciliation and settlement.
• Strong background leading infrastructure or platform teams at scale, ideally on AWS.
• Experience improving business systems and workflows across engineering, Finance and Operations.
• Practical exposure to introducing AI tools or automation into daily processes.
• Technical judgment to challenge architecture decisions and strong commercial awareness.

Senior Head of Engineering – Fintech

Ireland | Hybrid / Remote

You’ve led engineering managers, built reliable platforms and understand what happens between a customer making a payment and the money reaching the right account.

Now you want a broader remit, with a real say in how engineering supports a growing business.

We’re working with an established SaaS company hiring a Senior Head of Engineering to lead payments, cloud infrastructure, security, internal systems and AI enablement.

Reporting to the CTO, you’ll work alongside another senior engineering leader to shape investment, priorities and delivery across the engineering organisation.

The scope

Payments are a significant revenue stream, so you’ll help shape the roadmap while ensuring processing, integrations, reconciliation and settlement remain reliable as transaction volumes grow.

You’ll also oversee scalable AWS infrastructure, secure systems and internal tools. Part of your remit will be helping onboarding, billing and customer support handle growth through stronger integrations, automation and practical use of AI.

You’ll lead through Heads of Engineering, Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders, giving them clear ownership and the support to run their areas effectively.

What you’ll bring

• A strong background leading infrastructure or platform teams at scale, ideally on AWS.

• The technical judgement to challenge architecture decisions and the commercial awareness to decide where investment will make the biggest difference.
