Job summary

Fortis Recruitment is seeking a Director & Associate Counsel to join its Dublin legal team in the city centre. You will negotiate and manage documentation supporting the Company's sales, leasing and financing activities for aviation assets, from LOIs to definitive documents.

You will lead deal teams, coordinate with external counsel across jurisdictions, and resolve issues aligned with commercial objectives, including compliance, restructurings and litigation considerations.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to practice law in Ireland, America or the UK.
  • 6+ years of international legal experience in aviation leasing.
  • Strong commercial acumen and decision-making.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiating, managing and directing sales, leasing and financing of aviation assets.
  • Managing deal teams in support of Company’s sales, trading, technical and financing activities.
  • Identifying and resolving legal issues aligned with commercial objectives, including compliance and restructurings.
  • Negotiating and managing lease and asset management documentation, including redelivery and technical agreements.
  • Coordinating external counsel across jurisdictions to optimise efficiency and costs.

Job description

A global market leading lessor is seeking to hire a Director & Associate Counsel to join their Dublin legal team in the city centre. The candidate be responsible for negotiating and managing documentation in support of the Company's sales, trading, technical and financing activities. This is a listed business with considerable assets.

This is a decent sized legal team with support from the American team also on hand. The company is world-renowned for it's culture of putting people first. Primary Responsibilities

This role reports to the Chief Legal Officer. As a key member of the Legal team, you will be responsible for:

  • Negotiating, managing and directing the sales, leasing and financing of aviation assets, from the review of initial letters of intent through the negotiation and execution of definitive transaction documentation;
  • Managing deal teams in support of Company's sales, trading, technical and financing activities;
  • Identifying and resolving legal issues in the context of the overall commercial objectives of the Company, including active management of contract compliance issues, lease default management, lease restructurings, aircraft repossessions and associated litigation and bankruptcy matters;
  • Negotiating and managing of a wide range of lease and asset management documentation, including redelivery agreements, technical agreements and miscellaneous fleet support; and
  • Managing and coordinating of the work of outside counsel in diverse foreign jurisdictions to maximize the efficiency of work performed and the legal costs incurred, in each case, in consultation with senior members of the Legal team and outside transaction counsel.
Requirements
  • Qualified to practice law in Ireland, America or the UK
  • 6 or more years of international legal experience in the aviation leasing industry.
  • Highly commercial, our ideal candidate will have strong decision-making skills, and a willingness to learn about the contractual aspects of the aircraft leasing industry as a whole.
  • The ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines is crucial. The successful candidate will be measured on their ability to show conceptual thinking to understand complex issues and their implications and to create the most appropriate solution.
  • Having a second language would be a plus but not a necessity
