Job summary

GOAL Global is seeking a Digital Content Specialist to create and publish engaging multimedia content that highlights GOAL’s impact worldwide. You will develop content from concept to publication across web, social media and other digital channels to strengthen GOAL’s brand and support fundraising, advocacy and engagement.

You’ll oversee video, photography and written content, plan and edit materials, interview participants, and tailor content for diverse audiences while upholding safeguarding

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience producing digital and multimedia content
  • Experience in humanitarian, development or NGO sector preferred
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality video, photography and written content
  • Excellent video production and editing skills with Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Strong storytelling, interviewing, writing and editorial skills
  • Experience creating and publishing content across websites and social media
  • Understanding of digital analytics and audience engagement, using insights to inform decisions
  • Experience working with a CMS such as WordPress
  • Understanding of safeguarding, informed consent and ethical storytelling
  • Willingness to undertake international travel up to 10%

Job description

GOAL has responded to the world’s major humanitarian crises since its founding in 1977, working with vulnerable communities in 14 countries across the globe with a dedicated team of personnel. While GOAL continues to be an agile first-responder to humanitarian crises, it is also committed to working with vulnerable communities to help them survive crises and support them on the road to recovery.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Digital Content Specialist will create engaging, high-quality multimedia content that showcases the impact of GOAL’s work around the world. You’ll develop content from concept through to publication across web, social media and other digital channels, helping to strengthen GOAL’s brand and support fundraising, advocacy and engagement.

This is a hands-on, creative role for a strong storyteller who is confident across video, photography and written content, with an understanding of how audience insights and digital performance can inform creative decisions. You’ll work closely with programme and country teams to identify and tell compelling stories from across GOAL’s global portfolio.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Content Creation & Storytelling
  • Create engaging video, photography and written content for digital channels
  • Plan, film and edit video and photography for web, social media, fundraising and advocacy
  • Interview programme participants, staff and other stakeholders to develop compelling stories
  • Adapt content for different audiences, platforms and communications objectives
  • Ensure content meets GOAL’s brand, safeguarding and ethical storytelling standards
  • Build a strong pipeline of human-interest stories from GOAL programmes
Digital Publishing & Social Media
  • Publish and optimise content across GOAL’s website and social media channels
  • Create digital-first content and support social media campaigns
  • Keep website content accurate, accessible, engaging and aligned with user needs
  • Monitor digital trends and identify opportunities for creative storytelling
  • Support integrated communications, fundraising and advocacy campaigns
Content Performance & Insights
  • Monitor and analyse content performance across digital channels
  • Use audience insights and analytics to inform content planning and creative decisions
  • Report on engagement and recommend improvements to increase reach and impact
  • Contribute to a culture of testing, learning and continuous improvement
Collaboration & Content Gathering
  • Work with country and programme teams to identify stories and content opportunities
  • Support colleagues with photography, video and mobile content creation
  • Build effective relationships across GOAL’s global network
  • Travel internationally, where required, to gather stories and content from GOAL programmes (approximately 10%)
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience producing digital and multimedia content
  • Experience working in the humanitarian, development or NGO sector

  • Understanding of safeguarding, informed consent and ethical storytelling
  • Willingness and ability to undertake international travel 10%, including to challenging contexts where required
  • Qualification in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, Film Production or a related discipline
  • Experience working in fragile or emergency contexts
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Looker Studio or similar tools
  • Experience working with a CMS, such as WordPress
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive communications
