Egis is seeking an experienced Design Manager- Rail to lead and manage a defined package (geographical scope) within the MetroLink Dublin project.
Acting as the technical and managerial authority for your package, you will have full accountability for integrating all engineering disciplines, ensuring compliance with Discipline Lead prescriptions, and delivering within agreed cost and schedule targets.
Embed sustainability, decarbonisation, digital engineering, and innovation into the tender solution. Promote whole-life performance, resilience, and operational efficiency aligned with MetroLink objectives.
Implement and enforce Egis' quality management and assurance processes throughout your package. Maintain design quality registers for your package and capture lessons learned. Prepare for and participate in package-level design reviews conducted by the Project Director and/or Discipline Leads.
Lead your package delivery programme, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met on time and to required quality standard. Oversee resource planning, fee management, and cost control for your package. Report monthly to the Project Director on actuals vs forecast. Lead identification, assessment, and mitigation of technical, programme, and delivery risks specific to your package. Actively manage dependency risks and inter-package coordination issues that could impact your schedule or cost. Escalate to the Project Director if they arise. Support value engineering and whole-life cost optimisation initiatives within your scope.
Provide senior technical leadership for all design outputs within your package. Act as final technical authority for your package submissions, ensuring clarity, robustness, compliance with Discipline Lead prescriptions, and alignment with project objectives. Champion technical excellence within your scope while balancing performance with cost and programme constraints. Ensure all technical outputs are appropriately reviewed, verified, and approved prior to submission.
Integrate and coordinate all engineering disciplines (Civil, MEP, Systems, Architecture, Specialists) within your package scope. Establish and chair regular design coordination meetings within your package. Review progress, identify conflicts, and drive coordinated solutions. Create and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for all discipline interfaces within your package (e.g., Systems-Civil, MEP-Architecture). Resolve technical conflicts between disciplines within your package. If unresolvable, elevate to the Project Director with context and recommendation. Ensure all design outputs reflect coordinated, multi-disciplinary solutions that are technically sound and compliant with Discipline Lead prescriptions.
Receive and internalise all prescriptions, standards, and specifications established by Discipline Leads (Systems, MEP, Civil, Architecture, Sustainability, etc.). Ensure every design output within your package is compliant with Discipline Lead prescriptions. Adapt them intelligently to your package's context, but do not deviate without explicit Project Director approval. If a Discipline Lead requirement is unclear or cannot be met within your package context, elevate immediately to the Project Director for clarification or exception approval. Maintain traceability: document how each design decision in your package traces back to Discipline Lead prescriptions or justified exceptions.
