Job summary

Turmec is seeking a Design Engineer to support the design needs of our engineering teams in Ireland and Glasgow, delivering high-quality solutions for the engineering and recycling industries.

The candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, coordinating with clients and internal teams to produce precise drawings and robust designs, including CREO-based large components and material handling equipment. A strong communicator and self-starter is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a similar design role.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

Responsibilities

• Design plans in coordination with client needs and specifications.
• Translate sales drawings into manufacturable drawings.
• Design large components and assemblies using CREO.
• Design material handling equipment such as conveyors.
• Design structural support work.
• Lead design reviews and product/process value engineering.
• Manage engineering projects across specifications, planning, deployment and close-out.
• Interact with customers, supply chain and production systems.
• Create detailed models and 3D drawings.

Turmec have an opportunity for a Design Engineer to join our expanding team, to support the design requirements of our engineering teams in both Ireland and Glasgow providing high quality solutions within the engineering and recycling industries.

The successful candidate will be motivated, driven and be capable of working effectively in a pressured and fast paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design plans in coordination with our clients’ needs and specifications
• Translating concept designs from sales drawings into drawings suitable for manufacture
• Design large components and assemblies using CREO
• Design of material handling equipment such as conveyors
• Design of structural support work
• Design review process, product integrations, product and process value engineering
• Managing various engineering projects in terms of specifications, planning, deployment and close out
• Customer interaction, supply chain & production system design
• Conduct detailed models and 3d drawings

Qualifications

• - Relevant third level qualification/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Required Skills

• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
• AutoCAD an advantage
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills
• Self-Starter, work under your own initiative whilst also working as part of a team is essential to this role
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Strong intellectual, analytical and thinking skills
