Job summary

Turmec have an opportunity for a Design Engineer to join our expanding team, to support the design requirements of our engineering teams in both Ireland and Glasgow providing high quality solutions within the engineering and recycling industries.

The successful candidate will be motivated, driven and capable of working effectively in a pressured and fast paced team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience translating sales drawings into manufacturable designs.
• Proficiency with CREO/SolidWorks is desirable; AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Design plans in coordination with clients’ needs and specifications.
• Translate concept designs from sales drawings into manufacturable drawings.
• Design large components and assemblies using CREO.
• Design material handling equipment such as conveyors and structural support.
• Participate in design reviews and product/process value engineering.
• Manage engineering projects across specs, planning, deployment and close out.
• Interact with customers and support supply chain and production design.
• Create detailed models and 3D drawings.

The successful candidate will be motivated, driven and be capable of working effectively in a pressured and fast paced team environment.

Responsibilities Will Include

• Design plans in coordination with clients’ needs and specifications
• Translating concept designs from sales drawings into drawings suitable for manufacture
• Design large components and assemblies using CREO
• Design of material handling equipment such as conveyors & structural support work
• Design review process, product integrations, product and process value engineering
• Managing various engineering projects in terms of specifications, planning, deployment and close out
• Customer interaction, supply chain & production system design
• Conduct detailed models and 3d drawings

Required Skills

• Relevant third level qualification/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar role
• CREO/Solid works experience desirable
• Autocad an advantage
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills
• A proven track record of delivering complex and challenging projects to tight deadlines.
• Self-Starter, work under your own initiative whilst also working as part of a team is essential to this role.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Strong intellectual, analytical and thinking skills
