Job summary

Baxterstorey is seeking a Food Service Assistant to join the team at St Columba's College, Whitechurch, Dublin 16, Ireland. You will handle deliveries, maintain HACCP records, stock control and support the breakfast chef while upholding high standards of food quality and safety.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability and customer service in a fast-paced school kitchen. The shifts align with term-time; there is a pro-rata holiday arrangement and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• Food handling experience.
• Previous experience in food service or hospitality industry preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and work schedules.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds for extended periods

Responsibilities

• Accept and check all deliveries
• Correctly store chilled/frozen and ambient produce.
• Use the FIFO system of stock control
• Assist the breakfast chefs with ancillary duties
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to maintain a hygienic work environment
• Assist in food preparation, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients
• Assist with inventory management and storage of food items and supplies
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely service
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and concerns
• Participate in cleaning and organizing kitchen and dining areas
• Assist with special events and catering services as required
