Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and implementing metadata, data catalogue, lineage, or master data practices in complex, cross-functional or enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Fabric, Purview, Databricks) and structuring data within them.
  • Practical experience using SQL or Python to explore and shape data assets.
  • Understanding of data modelling, business definitions, data lineage, and data asset management principles.
  • Experience collaborating with data engineering teams to design data products and reusable models.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve enterprise metadata and data-product approaches aligned to governance.
  • Manage end-to-end data lineage across systems and pipelines.
  • Set standards for data definitions, glossary, lineage, and modelling.
  • Implement metadata management and data catalog capabilities across platforms like Purview and Databricks Unity Catalog.
  • Partner with business, analytics and transformation teams to define and develop governed data products.
  • Collaborate with data integration to ensure consistent data definitions across interfaces.
  • Enable data discovery, lineage and transparency to improve trust and reuse.
  • Align data models with analytics teams to reduce duplication and support reusable structures.
  • Support master data practices for key entities (product, supplier, customer).
  • Define and track metrics for data asset reuse and metadata completeness.
  • Build and lead a small team to establish central metadata and data-product capability.

As Data Products and Metadata Lead, you will play a key role in establishing and scaling Musgrave’s enterprise data asset, metadata, and data product capability.

You will define and implement the approaches, standards, and practices required to ensure that data is consistently defined, discoverable, and reusable across the organisation.

Working closely with business, analytics, and technology teams, you will enable the development of governed data products built on a shared data platform, supporting cross-functional insight, operational efficiency, and AI use cases.

This role reports into the Head of Data Governance, in the IT division and the role can be based in Dublin or Cork.

What you'll be doing
  • Define and evolve Musgrave’s enterprise approach to metadataand data products, aligned to the data governance strategy
  • Define and manage end-to-end data lineage across systems, including data flows through integration layers and pipelines
  • Establish standards for data definitions, business glossary,datalineage, and data modelling across key business domains
  • Implement metadata management and data catalogue capabilities across data platformsand pipelines(e.g.MicrosoftPurview,DatabricksUnityCatalog)
  • Partner with business,analytics, and transformationteams to define, prioritise, and develop governed data products aligned to key use cases
  • Partner with thedata integration teamto ensure data definitions and structures are consistently applied across interfaces and APIs
  • Enable data discovery, lineage, and transparency to improve trust and reuse acrossreporting, analytics, and AIteams
  • Collaborate withtechnologyand analyticsteams to align data models, reduce duplication, and support reusable data structures
  • Support the development of master data practices to ensure consistency of key entities (e.g. product, supplier, customer)
  • Define and track metrics to assess data asset reuse, data product adoption, and metadata completeness
  • Build and lead a small team to establish a central capability for metadata and data product support
What we're looking for
  • Experiencedesigningand implementing metadata, data catalogue, lineage, or master data practicesin complex, cross-functional or enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experienceworking with modern data platforms (e.g. MicrosoftAzure,Fabric,Purview, Databricks)andstructuring data within them
  • Practical experience working with data (e.g. SQL, Python or similar) to explore, validate, and shape data assets
  • Understanding of data modelling, business definitions, data lineage, and data asset management principles
  • Experience working alongside data engineering teams to designdataproductsand align reusable data models and structures
  • Strong stakeholder engagementand communicationskills, with the ability to workacrossbothbusiness and technology teams
  • Well-developed analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to structure and define data clearly
  • Experience in retail, FMCG, or complex operational environments is desirable
