Job summary

SMBC Aviation Capital seeks an experienced data-platform operations professional to own reliability, governance, and continuous improvement of the data estate. You will drive monitoring, incident response and data-quality controls while supporting a major transition to Fabric and Purview with a partner.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure operability, security and scalable pipelines across Azure SQL MI and Power BI today and Fabric in the future.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering or data-platform operations.
• Experience running production data platforms with strong hands-on capabilities.
• Hands-on ETL/ELT, data warehousing and data modelling with Power BI and Azure SQL.
• End-to-end data-flows understanding: source, ingestion, transformation, marts and reporting.
• Experience implementing data governance, quality and operational controls.
• Comfort with Microsoft data platforms (Azure SQL MI today; Fabric & Purview later).
• Experience with third-party managed services and accountability for SLAs.
• Track record of incident response and routine operational work.
• Experience in aircraft leasing, fleet management, banking or treasury/finance.
• Experience migrating or transitioning large data-platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day reliability, availability, performance and quality of the data platform.
• Run monitoring, alerting and automation across data and reporting pipelines; lead incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Meet operational SLAs and act as senior escalation for platform issues.
• Oversee third-party or 24/7 managed-service support and transition to SLA governance.
• Reduce technical debt and improve architecture robustness.
• Build and optimise scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT and data models across the estate.
• Maintain data marts and streamline external data feeds for consistent reporting.
