Job summary

Fruition Group Ireland is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own the enterprise data platform operations, improve reliability and drive cloud-based data solutions. You will lead data pipelines, governance, security and collaboration with stakeholders while implementing modern DataOps practices and integrating Microsoft Fabric, Purview and Azure services.

The role requires strong experience with Azure SQL, Power BI and data warehousing, plus a proven track record in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering or similar role with production ops experience.
• Strong Azure data tech experience, esp. Azure SQL and Power BI.
• Proven ability to build, maintain and troubleshoot data pipelines.
• Experience with data governance, security controls and data quality.
• Familiarity with DataOps, automation and monitoring practices.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Purview in data platforms.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments is a plus.
• Excellent stakeholder management and independent working capabilities.
• Awareness of AI and generative AI applications in data engineering.

Our client, a well-established organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to take ownership of enterprise data platform operations, enhance system reliability and support the ongoing development of modern cloud-based data solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the ongoing performance, availability and operational stability of enterprise data platforms, ensuring consistent service delivery and adherence to agreed performance standards.
• Develop and optimise data integration processes, including ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing solutions and reporting infrastructure.
• Implement proactive monitoring, automated alerting and effective incident resolution processes to minimise disruption and improve platform resilience.
• Support the modernisation of existing data infrastructure, including the migration of legacy solutions to scalable, cloud-based technologies.
• Collaborate with technical teams, external service providers and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet operational and organisational requirements.
• Establish and maintain appropriate data management practices, including quality assurance, access controls, security and governance procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation, architectural enhancements and the reduction of technical debt.
• Contribute to the implementation and ongoing support of Microsoft-based data technologies, ensuring effective integration with existing enterprise systems.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 6+ years' experience in data engineering, data platform management or a similar technical position, with significant hands‑on experience supporting production environments.
• Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Azure data technologies, particularly Azure SQL, alongside experience with Power BI and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Proven ability to develop, maintain and troubleshoot complex data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation and integration processes.
• Demonstrable experience managing data platform operations, including performance monitoring, incident management, root cause analysis and service improvement.
• Solid understanding of data architecture, relational databases, data modelling and modern data warehousing principles.
• Experience implementing data governance frameworks, maintaining data quality and ensuring appropriate security controls across enterprise environments.
• Practical knowledge of DevOps or DataOps methodologies, including automation, operational monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and coordinate technical activities with external service providers.
• Experience working with Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview, particularly within data platform transformation or modernisation programmes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault and cloud security best practices.
• Exposure to enterprise data migration projects, including the consolidation or replacement of legacy data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with master data management, data lineage and enterprise integration methodologies.
• Experience working within financial services or other regulated business environments.
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering principles and the management of third‑party technology support services.
• An understanding of AI or generative AI technologies and their potential applications within data engineering and operational automation.

Educational Requirements

• Third-level degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure, data engineering or cloud technology certifications would be advantageous.
