Job Title: Data Centre Controls Engineer (BMS/EPMS)
Location: Clondalkin
Work Times: Monday to Friday (8am – 5pm)
Purpose of Job
The Controls Engineer will work as part of Campus wide operational team who support the Critical environment 24/7/365. The Controls Engineer will provide technical and application support to all internal CBRE staff, Client Chief Engineers on the Campus in relation to the BMS/EPMS, this includes new installs, retrofits or modifications, fault finding, commissioning, maintenance system upgrades and related Projects. The Controls Engineer will be the main point of contact for any day-to-day items or emergency escalations relating to any BMS/EMPS related equipment across the Campus. The Controls Engineer will report to the Technical Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the main point of contact relating to the BMS/EPMS and other all other control systems across the Campus for the client & CBRE Team
- Technical Supervision of the operation, maintenance and repair of all Controls related critical environment systems while maintaining 100% uptime to all related critical systems.
- Have full overview & awareness of all activities impacting on the BMS/EPMS systems, inconjunction with the CE Teams, prioritize these activities and keep all stakeholders updated.
- Support engineering of new Controls solutions, driving quality and standardization initiatives across the Campus.
- Work with the site Supervisors to follow up and close out on all Controls issues raised by the CE Team’s through daily shift reports and CMMS open WO’s.
- Liaise with Client Chief Engineers and on the optimization of the Campus Systems.
- Support the CE team on the BMS/EPMS and Controls side of all new builds/DC add on’s.
- Maintain all BMS/EPMS Controls and equipment at optimal operational level.
- Drive Campus wide energy efficiency and maintain targeted site PUE supporting the ISO50001 Energy Management system.
- Review subcontractor method statements, risk assessments and MSDS for any Controls related works to ensure compliance with site health & safety and operating procedures prior to you or the site CE team issuing permit to works.
- Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the Data Centre domain
- Develop all BMS/EPMS related procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, DRILLS and Apps for the Campus. All documentation will be standardised across the campus and should be consistent with current client standards.
- Author, Peer review, approve or carry out periodic reviews of all Operational Documentation (like EOP’s, Drills etc.) as issued by the CE Operation.
- Provide detailed reports for any/all incidents on site relating to the BMS/EPMS. Reports must be completed on the correct template & sent to the CBRE Management Team. These reports are used as lessons learnt & can feed into a wider report to the Client or CBRE management.
- Responsible for compiling and delivering monthly operational and performance reports in relation to all control & monitoring systems on site including the BMS/EMPS, in line with client KPI requirements
- Deliver site specific BMS/EMPS and Controls training to the CE Team as required.
- Be the point of contact for any external vendor training relating to the BMS/EPMS, manage the content, quality, and successful delivery of that training to the CE team on site.
- Provide ongoing training & mentorship of any other site Controls Engineers/Technicians to progress and develop their knowledge and skillset on the Campus systems.
- Develop details training plans for Campus team to follow to aid their progression and knowledge around the site BMS/EPMS, helping them progress and gain in depth knowledge on the systems.
- Work with the site Technical & Operations team to agree on any site‑specific training requirements that need to be captured and documented correctly.
