Job summary

AWS Data Center Systems is hiring a Controls Engineer to design, implement, and support next‑generation data center control systems across global facilities. You will lead cross‑functional collaborations and develop mechanisms for mechanical and electrical controls, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and safety.

The role requires broad expertise in IT infrastructure, electrical/mechanical data center systems, and project management, plus the ability to travel 50%+ to deploy and support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate collaboration with multiple teams, including construction, operation, commissioning, software development and sourcing to deliver for customers
• Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital control systems and the ability to test and write modifications in multiple system software languages
• Provide QA/QC oversight of hardware installation, reviewing proposals and programming through the commissioning process
• Experience with data center redundancy, mechanical failure strategies, energy and water conservation practices, and data reporting analytics
• Knowledge of operating in high-security critical environments while maximizing productivity
• Innovate new solutions to support team, initiative, and company goals
• Create and maintain specification documents for global projects
• Develop and support mechanisms for mechanical and electrical controls products
• Interact with AWS cloud services and other applications to present, archive, and analyze accumulated data
• Travel of 50% or more may be required to manage and support project deployments as needed
