Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Center Global Services team seeks a Controls Engineer for Construction (BMS/EPMS) to oversee building automation systems in our EMEA data centers. The role involves defining scope, managing site-specific work, and coordinating across teams to deliver on-time, on-budget projects.

The ideal candidate has a technical background in electrical/mechanical engineering, vendor management experience, and familiarity with data-center environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in vendor management.
• Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
• Experience in data center engineering or operations; MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Ascertain customer needs to help develop project scope and specifications.
• Manage scopes of work relative to the site specifics and customer needs.
• Manage project engineering to determine the scope of work relative to the design intent of the customer needs.
• Read and interpret specifications and implement them in the work environment.
• Develop control panel BOMs.
• Develop ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters, as well as for control valves, positioners, analytical and various instrument types.
• Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes: general arrangement, internal layout, schematics, interconnection and wire diagrams.
• Develop logic diagrams in the International Automation format for complex logic devices such as Programmable Logic Controllers and Distributed Control Systems.
• Prepare cable routing plans and schedules.
• Perform inspections, testing, and commissioning of the facility systems.
• Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
• Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on‑time completion of projects within budget.
• Travel domestically and internationally to support other regions.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in data center engineering or operations.Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent.
• Experience in construction or project management.
