Qualifications

• Enterprise/solution architecture experience in cyber recovery or DR/operational resilience.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture for the Cyber Recovery Programme and govern the target architecture.
• Define principles, standards, reference architectures, and design patterns.
• Review designs and challenge assumptions across internal teams and suppliers.
• Identify risks, technical debt, dependencies, and single points of failure.
• Validate recovery strategies and roadmaps to meet RTOs/RPOs.
• Support procurement, evaluations, and supplier selections.
• Participate in Design Authority and governance forums.
• Assess runbooks, testing approaches, and provide assurance reports.

Overview of Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Architecture and Assurance Lead to provide independent technical leadership and governance across a major Cyber Recovery Technology Programme for a critical infrastructure client. Acting as the trusted technical advisor, you will define, govern, and assure the target Cyber recovery architecture to ensure cohesive end-to-end recovery capability. You will collaborate with technology teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to align solutions with business, operational, security, and recovery objectives while providing independent challenge throughout the programme lifecycle.

Role & Responsibilities

• Function as the technical architecture lead for the Cyber Recovery Technology Programme, developing and governing the Target Cyber Recovery Architecture.
• Define architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and design patterns for Cyber recovery and operational resilience.
• Review and assure technical designs produced by internal teams and third-party suppliers, challenging technical assumptions and architectural decisions.
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt, hidden dependencies, and single points of failure across the programme.
• Validate recovery strategies, operating models, and technology roadmaps to ensure alignment with Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
• Support procurement activities, technology evaluations, and supplier selection exercises.
• Participate in Design Authority and technical governance forums.
• Review and assess recovery runbooks, methodologies, and testing approaches; support Cyber recovery testing and simulation exercises.
• Produce architecture assurance reports, dependency assessments, and technical recommendations.
• Provide architecture leadership across recovery infrastructure, immutable backup platforms, Cyber recovery vaults, clean room environments, and application recovery workstreams.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Strong understanding of recovery architectures, Cyber resilience principles, and operational resilience frameworks.
• Expert knowledge of Identity, Access Management, Active Directory, MFA, PAM, and recovery authentication models.
• Proficiency with VMware vSphere, enterprise infrastructure, storage, virtualisation technologies, and enterprise database recovery architectures (SQL Server, Oracle RAC).
• Experience with immutable backup platforms, Cyber recovery vaults, air-gapped recovery solutions, and clean room environments.
• Strong risk assessment, dependency analysis, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and technical documentation skills.

Experience

• Essential experience in Enterprise, Solution, Infrastructure, or Cyber Recovery Architecture with demonstrable experience designing and governing Cyber Recovery, Disaster Recovery, or Operational Resilience programmes.
• Proven record leading Design Authority, Architecture Governance, and Technical Assurance activities across multi-supplier technology programmes.
• Experience working within Critical Infrastructure, Transport, Aviation, Utilities, Financial Services, or NIS2-regulated environments (Highly Desirable).
• Hands-on experience supporting recovery testing, Cyber exercises, validation activities, and recovery readiness assessments.

Education & Certifications

• Third-level qualification in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Industry certifications such as TOGAF, SABSA, CISSP, Azure Architect, VMware, or equivalent (Desirable).
• Good understanding of ITIL practices, governance, change management, and continual improvement (Desirable).
