Your Role:
The Cost Management & Workforce Planning Specialist will support the Senior Business Manager in designing, implementing, and managing processes and systems to optimize resource planning and cost management across Operations. This role involves data analysis, forecasting, and collaboration with various business functions to drive efficiency and support transformation initiatives.
You will be a self-starter, capable of working on your own initiative, and possess very strong analytical skillsets and enjoy working with senior stakeholders across Operations, Finance and HR. You will also enjoy fostering relationships through the organisation as you represent the Operations function.
Your Responsibilities
- Support annual and multi-year workforce planning activities across Group Operations, ensuring alignment with business strategy, transformation priorities and future capability requirements.
- Support the Strategic Planning Process (SPP) by developing workforce, capability and cost forecasts to inform business planning and decision-making.
- Provide insight, challenge and recommendations to senior leaders on workforce demand, organisational design, capacity planning and resourcing decisions.
- Own the maintenance of workforce, capacity and demand planning data, ensuring accurate forecasting and informed decision-making.
- Maintain oversight of recruitment, attrition, internal mobility and resource demand trends, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to optimise workforce capacity, organisational structures and resource allocation to improve operational efficiency and support strategic priorities.
- Work with senior stakeholders across Operations, Finance and HR to ensure workforce and cost plans are effectively managed and aligned to approved budgets.
- Work closely with the Senior Business Manager to ensure cost and headcount commitments are achieved across Group Operations.
- Analyse financial and workforce data to monitor budget performance, identify emerging risks and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Support the development of accurate budgets, forecasts and business cases, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
- Work with Transformation, Finance and Operations teams to identify and track productivity initiatives, benefit realisation opportunities and cost optimisation programmes.
- Monitor delivery against agreed workforce and cost targets, escalating risks and recommending mitigating actions where required.
- Prepare and present workforce and cost insights to senior governance forums, leadership teams and planning discussions.
- Develop and maintain governance routines to monitor headcount, costs, productivity and workforce plan delivery.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders across Group Operations, Finance and HR, providing insight and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Act as a central point of contact for workforce planning activities, including the coordination of recruitment, attrition and resourcing data for governance forums and planning processes.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting, analysing and translating complex data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and reporting.
- Experience in workforce planning, resource management, financial analysis or business planning.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, assess options and recommend practical solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
