Job summary

Byrne Wallace Shields LLP seeks an Associate with a minimum of 3 years’ PQE to advise on privacy, data protection and GDPR within commercial contracts. The role covers data processing agreements, policies, training, and incident response, with opportunities for training and progression.

You will support other business units on data protection issues and contribute to client training and remediation after data breaches, requiring strong drafting and analytical skills.

Qualifications

Job description

As part of the continuing development of our Data Protection Corporate team we currently have a vacancy for an Associate with minimum 3 years’ PQE. The successful applicant will advise on the following:

• Privacy, data protection, GDPR and commercial contracts
• Data sharing and data processing agreements
• Data protection policies and procedures
• Data protection in commercial contracts and transactions
• Online terms and conditions, e-privacy and direct marketing
• Monitoring and responding to developments in data protection and information security
• Providing support to other business units as required on data protection issues
• Providing ongoing training and support to clients
• Investigating data breaches and carrying out remedial work in the aftermath of data breaches
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience with a background in data protection/GDPR experience, regulation, corporate and commercial contracts
• Excellent technical and drafting skills
• Strong legal research and analytical skills
