This role develops and maintains strategic and operational road maps, manages governance, oversees key initiatives, and ensures effective performance measurement.

The successful candidate will drive intake management, maintain the COO scorecard, oversee Board papers, and craft compelling narratives for internal and external stakeholders.

This is not a traditional PMO or administrative support role.It requires judgment, challenge, and influence to not only track delivery, but also challenge priorities, identify duplication, surface risks and dependencies early, and support better decision-making across the COO leadership team.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. • Own the COO's operational intake process; triage, prioritise, and sequence requests to optimise resource allocation and prevent duplication.
  • Oversee governance processes for COO requests, board papers, and regulatory asks, ensuring timely contributions and narrative consistency.
  • Craft the COO's strategic and operational narrative across internal and external channels (All Hands, quarterly updates, Group disclosures).
  • Develop high-quality Board papers, strategic narratives, and senior-level presentations.
  • Lead forward-looking planning processes for upcoming priorities and strategic themes.
  • Act as key liaison for COO priorities, fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Maintain the COO scorecard, tracking operational, financial, and strategic metrics (change delivery, cost & efficiency, vendor exposure, AI progress, resilience readiness).
  • Collaborate with Finance on benefits realisation, value tracking, and budget management.
  • Challenge priorities, identify duplication, and surface risks and dependencies to support better decision-making.
  • Oversee operational dashboards and reports.
  • Lead/ manage resources to efficiently achieve financial targets, implementing and executing the planning, forecasting, and managing of budgets.

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years in strategic planning, management consulting, or senior business roles (essential), preferably in insurance or financial services
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related fieldor the equivalent combination of education and experience (essential)
  • Proven experience managing operational governance, project delivery, and performance metrics
  • Enthusiastic about AI and motivated to embrace and apply new technologies to enhance customer and colleague experiences
  • Excellent communication skills with experience crafting narratives for diverse audience
  • Strategic thinking combined with operational execution
  • Stakeholder management and communication excellence
  • Project management expertise and organizational acumen
