Job summary

BNRG Renewables is seeking a Construction Manager to deliver utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects in Ireland from Ready to Build to COD and handover. The role is hands-on, requiring leadership of construction activities, contractor management, and strong safety and quality oversight on site.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Development and coordinate interfaces with contractors, landowners, grid operators and internal teams to ensure projects are completed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ construction/project delivery experience.
• Demonstrable experience delivering utility-scale solar PV projects through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Experience managing EPC contractors, owner’s engineers, consultants and site-based project teams.
• Strong communication, organisation, reporting and stakeholder management skills.

The Position

BNRG is seeking a Construction Manager to join our Irish team and play a key role in delivering utility-scale solar and energy storage projects from Ready to Build through to Notice-to-Proceed ("NTP") and to Commercial Operation Date ("COD") and final handover.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the safe, timely and cost-effective delivery of major renewable energy projects. The Construction Manager will lead all aspects of the construction phase, including contractor management, health and safety, quality assurance, programme management, commercial oversight, commissioning and stakeholder coordination.

The Construction Manager will report to and work closely with the Head of Development and will act as BNRG's primary on-site representative, managing interfaces between contractors, consultants, landowners, network operators, regulatory bodies and internal project teams.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the construction phase of major renewable energy projects in Ireland, working with an experienced development team in a growing international business. The successful candidate will have direct visibility across project delivery, contractor management, procurement and stakeholder coordination while contributing to Ireland's transition to clean energy.

Key Responsibilities

The Construction Manager will be responsible for:

Project Delivery

• Ensure that all projects in development are considered from a construction perspective and that suitable access, set-down areas etc. are accommodated in the development phase.
• Ensure that all construction works accommodate any relevant planning conditions.
• Implement pre-construction activities such as Geotech, pull testing and met data stations on site.
• Manage construction of utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects from site mobilisation through to COD and final handover.
• Run the tender process for contractors, EPC, OE, modules etc.
• Act as BNRG’s main on-site representative and coordinate contractors, consultants, landowners, utilities and internal teams.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards.
• Identify delivery risks early and implement practical recovery or mitigation plans.

Health, Safety and Environmental Management

• Lead a strong safety culture on site and oversee contractor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.

• Oversee construction, installation, testing, commissioning and handover activities.
• Manage quality plans, inspections, testing, snags and close‑out documentation.
• Ensure works meet project specifications, design requirements, warranties and industry standards.

Grid Connection and Electrical Works

• Manage interfaces with ESB Networks, EirGrid and other relevant network operators.
• Oversee grid connection works, energisation, compliance testing and utility witness testing.
• Coordinate electrical works and resolve construction or technical interface issues as they arise.

Risk Management and Stakeholder Engagement

• Maintain clear project reporting on safety, programme, budget, quality and risk.
• Manage relationships with landowners, local authorities, utilities, contractors and community stakeholders.
• Provide regular, practical updates and recommendations to senior management.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will be an experienced construction professional with a strong track record of delivering utility-scale solar projects, ideally in Ireland or a comparable market. They will be practical, commercially aware and able to manage contractors, budgets, risks and stakeholders in a fast-moving project environment.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ construction/project delivery experience.
• Demonstrable experience delivering utility-scale solar PV projects through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Experience managing EPC contractors, owner’s engineers, consultants and site-based project teams.
• Strong understanding of health and safety, environmental compliance, quality control and site management.
• Ability to manage programme, budget, contractor performance, variations and project risks.
• Good working knowledge of grid connection works, electrical interfaces and commissioning requirements.
• Strong communication, organisation, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience delivering battery energy storage projects.
• Experience with MV/HV electrical infrastructure, substations and grid connection works.
• Knowledge of EPC, EPCM, FIDIC or similar construction contracts.
• Experience working with ESB Networks, EirGrid or other utility providers.
• PMP, PRINCE2, IOSH, NEBOSH, Safe Pass or equivalent professional qualification.
• Chartered Engineer, Chartered Builder or equivalent accreditation.
