Job summary

Natural Power is seeking a Project Manager (Construction) in Ireland to lead pre-construction and construction phase activities across diverse renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will manage budgets, risk, design reviews and stakeholder engagement, while promoting safety and quality across all stages

Qualifications

  • Experience in project management for construction/renewable energy is desirable.
  • Strong client, contractor and stakeholder liaison skills.
  • Familiarity with contract types (BoP, EPC) and design review processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-construction and construction phase consultancy services.
  • Interact with clients, contractors and project stakeholders to manage interfaces of complex renewable projects.
  • Contract management and advice on BoP, turbine supply and EPC contracts.
  • Prepare, review and submit tender documentation and Employer’s Requirements.
  • Support clients in obtaining project consents, permits and licences.
  • Chair client and contractor meetings on site or remotely.
  • Advise on safety best practices and health on site.
  • Oversee project budgets, risk registers and monthly reporting.
  • Develop and grow Natural Power’s project management services.

As we continue to grow, we are now seeking to strengthen our Construction team with a Project Manager (Construction) at our Castlebar or Dublin Location with flexibility for hybrid working and remote, Ireland based.

We operate in a variety of geographies including Ireland, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, wider Europe, the Nordic countries and North America, with aspirations to grow and expand our international markets and to develop our services to encompass the broadest range of renewable and low carbon technologies.

The Irish Construction Project Management Team comprises a professional and passionate group of engineers and construction management professionals supporting our clients to deliver their renewable energy projects on time, within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. We operate in a cooperative, supportive and open manner and support all staff in developing to their full potential. Our team provide technical advisory, site supervision and project management services to make sure that projects are planned and constructed in line with necessary requirements.

Supported by a Senior Project Manager, the successful applicant will: provide construction management services on a consultancy basis supporting client requirements to achieve the objectives of individual renewables projects to achieve the required objectives of the services; and grow, develop and consolidate Natural Power’s pre-construction and construction phase service provisions.

Projects include onshore wind, solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hydro, renewable heat and a variety of other associated evolving technologies.

While specific experience working in the renewables sector is not a pre-requisite it is a very desirable attribute for applicants to the role. Similarly experience of electrical engineering, and in particular transmission connections, is of particular benefit.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The main purpose of the role is to successfully provide pre-construction and construction phase consultancy services by supporting project managers to deliver client and contract requirements. Typical (non-exhaustive) tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Undertake pre-construction and construction phase services in connection with Irish, UK, wider European and global renewable developments.
  • Providing advice to all parts of the business
  • Interacting proactively with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to manage interfaces of complex and challenging renewable energy projects
  • Contract management and providing advice and interpretation on key project contracts including balance of plant (BoP), turbine supply and EPC contract agreements
  • Prepare, review and submit various documentation including but not limited to:
  • Tender technical documentation and Employer’s Requirements
  • Contract preparation and management (TSA, EPC, Civil / Electrical Balance of Plant (BoP))
  • Support clients in obtaining relevant project consents, permits and licences
  • Progress reports
  • Act as the Engineer in accordance with FIDIC
  • Work with key stakeholders (client, planning authorities, statutory environmental authorities, local communities, utilities, highway authorities TSO/DSO, TAO, etc.)
  • Administration relating to projects including management of project budgets, risk and TQ registers, monthly reporting, contract claims and variations, payment certificates and action trackers.
  • Chair and minute client and contractor meetings both in person on site and remotely
  • Providing competent advice within area of expertise to clients and colleagues across the business
  • Ad hoc assessments and tasks associated with project management as directed by the project team
  • Identify and assist in undertaking business development activities for the purpose of successfully growing and developing the project management services within the team
  • Lead by example exhibiting best practice in people and team management skills identified by the organisation and in particular with respect to safety and health compliance on site
  • Manage the process of design review
  • Proactively manage cash-flow including prompt recording, invoicing and minimisation of debtor days
  • To actively support the business to protect the environment at all times
  • Take ownership of projects
  • Deputise for Senior Project Mangers as required

This is a PERMANENT, FULL-TIME role, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday - Flexibility for hybrid working and remote, Ireland based.
