Position
The Compliance Manager (UK & ROI) will act as a trusted advisor to the business, partnering with Marketing, Operational Compliance, Development, and Customer Support to ensure our activities are both commercially viable and strictly compliant.
With the UK's ongoing regulatory reforms and the imminent establishment of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI), this role requires a proactive, commercially aware compliance professional who excels at horizon scanning and translating complex regulations into actionable business requirements.
You will report directly to the UK & Ireland Head of Compliance based in Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure the business remains fully compliant with the UK Gambling Commission’s (UKGC) Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), as well as current and emerging Irish gambling regulations, and other applicable regulations such as Data Protection.
- Advisory & Strategy: Act as the primary subject matter expert for the UK and Irish markets. Advise internal stakeholders on new product launches, platform changes, and market entry strategies.
- Safer Gambling & AML: Work closely with the Safer Gambling and AML teams to ensure customer protection protocols, affordability checks, KYC and source of funds processes meet stringent UKGC and Irish standards.
- Marketing Compliance: Review and sign off on marketing materials, affiliate campaigns, and promotions to ensure strict adherence to ASA, CAP/BCAP codes, and Irish advertising standards.
- Regulatory Liaison: Serve as a key point of contact for the UKGC and relevant Irish authorities. Manage regulatory reporting, inquiries, and coordinate responses to information requests or audits.
- Horizon Scanning: Monitor legislative changes (specifically the rollout of the UK Gambling White Paper reforms and the new Irish Gambling Regulation Bill) and assess their impact on the business, driving the necessary operational changes.
- Policy Management: Develop, maintain, and update internal compliance policies and procedures to reflect the latest regulatory guidance.
- Training & Culture: Foster a strong culture of compliance across the company. Design and deliver tailored regulatory training to staff, ensuring everyone understands their obligations.
What You'll Bring
- Experience: 3–5+ years in a senior regulatory compliance role. Preference is that it is within the online gambling (B2C or B2B) industry but not essential.
- Market Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of the UKGC LCCP, UK gambling legislation, and an understanding of the evolving Irish gambling regulatory framework.
- Commercial Acumen: The ability to balance strict regulatory requirements with the commercial objectives of a fast-growing tech company.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, translating complex legal documents and regulations into clear, actionable guidelines for non-technical teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Experience influencing senior leadership and building strong, constructive relationships with external regulators and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: Fastidious attention to detail and a methodical approach to risk management and internal auditing.
- Qualifications: A relevant professional qualification (e.g., ICA Diploma in Anti Money Laundering or Governance, Risk and Compliance) or a degree in Law/Business is highly desirable.
Compensation
- Annual salary and promotion review
