Job summary

Three Steps seeks a dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred care in a residential setting. The role is full-time (39 hours per week), supporting residents with daily living needs while promoting dignity, independence and well-being.

You will work closely with residents, families, nurses and the care team to ensure safe, respectful and compassionate care, following individual care plans and organisational policies.

Qualifications

• A caring, compassionate, patient and respectful approach.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of dignity, confidentiality, safeguarding and person-centred care.
• Reliable, flexible and willing to work shifts, including weekends where required.
• Previous experience in residential, nursing, disability or community care is desirable.
• Relevant healthcare or care qualification is desirable or a willingness to complete required training.
• Ability to follow care plans, policies, procedures and instructions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care including washing, dressing and continence care.
• Support mobility, transfers and safe use of equipment.
• Assist with meals and hydration respecting dietary needs and preferences.
• Provide companionship and encourage participation in activities.
• Observe wellbeing and report concerns promptly to the nurse or senior staff.
• Follow care plans and complete care records accurately.
• Support residents to maintain independence, dignity and privacy.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment.
• Follow infection control and safeguarding procedures.
• Collaborate with the care team and communicate professionally with residents and relatives.
