Job summary

Blackrock Health Galway Clinic is seeking a Professional Cook/Chef for a temporary 12-month full-time role in Galway City. The position involves day-time hours, four days per week (any four from seven), and responsibilities across patient meals, conferences, and hospital catering.

You will prepare mise en place, maintain high culinary standards, uphold safety and hygiene, and work as part of a supportive hotel services team under the Head Chef.

Qualifications

• Professional Cookery Course and/or relevant professional experience.
• Minimum 2-3 years chef experience.
• Teamplayer.
• Flexibility in work practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present food for patient care, restaurant and conferences.
• Assist in mise en place for meal periods.
• Maintain HACCP compliance and hygiene standards.
• Keep kitchen and work areas clean at all times.
• Report maintenance issues and keep equipment in good order.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operation.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Adhere to Galway Clinic regulations on safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Head Chef.

A vacancy has arisen within the Hotel Services Department for the above position. The role is a Temporary 12 Months, Full Time Role. 37 hours per week.

To participate in the preparation, production and presentation of food for patient care, restaurant and conferences in a safe & hygienic manner and to ensure a high standard of culinary quality is maintained. Day time hours, 4 days per week (any 4 days from 7)

The role:

• To assist in the organising and preparation of mise en place for meal periods.
• To prepare and present food according to standard.
• To keep food in the best condition possible.
• To practice safe food preparation and good hygiene techniques at all times.
• To adhere to and implement all HACCP requisitions.
• To keep kitchen and all work areas clean at all times.
• To keep all equipment in good working order and report any maintenance issues.
• To work co operatively with fellow colleagues, practicing team spirit and contributing to the smooth operation of the kitchen.
• Ability to work in a busy, fast paced kitchen.
• To attend training courses and meetings as required.
• To comply with the Galway Clinic regulations regarding to : Fire, Health & Safety, Hand Hygiene, Infection Control, Security & Patient Confidentiality
• Any other duties as assigned by the Head Chef.
