Job description

Want to help build the cloud platform behind a major AI-led SaaS transformation in Galway?

CompuStaff is recruiting a Cloud Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading global SaaS company with a growing R&D centre in Galway. This is a strong opportunity to join a high-impact engineering team working on cloud modernisation, automation, platform reliability, and AI-enabled product transformation.

You’ll work across modern cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, security, observability, and platform automation. The role will suit either an experienced Cloud Engineer or a strong Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer ready to step into a broader cloud-focused position.

About the company

Our client provides SaaS platforms and digital tools used by thousands of organisations internationally. Their Galway R&D centre is playing a key role in the company’s next phase of growth, with major investment in AI-native products, cloud platforms, and engineering capability.

This is a chance to join a team where your work will directly improve how software is built, deployed, secured, and scaled.

The role

You’ll help design, build, and operate secure, scalable cloud infrastructure for a growing SaaS product portfolio.

Working closely with software engineering teams, you’ll improve automation, deployment reliability, cloud security, monitoring, and overall platform performance. You’ll also contribute to longer-term architecture and cloud strategy as the business continues to modernise.

What you’ll be doing
  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Automate infrastructure using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines to support faster and more reliable software delivery.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and security.
  • Work with engineering teams to improve deployment, scalability, and resilience.
  • Implement cloud security best practices across IAM, networking, and compliance.
  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Help standardise cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices across teams.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and long-term cloud strategy.
  • Share knowledge and help promote strong cloud engineering practices.
What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who enjoys building clean, secure, automated cloud environments - not someone who wants to babysit servers and fight YAML fires all day.

You’ll likely bring experience in some of the following:

  • AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Terraform, CloudFormation, or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, or similar container platforms.
  • Monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Linux systems administration.
  • Scripting with Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar.
  • Cloud networking, security, IAM, and architecture principles.
  • Production SaaS environments with high availability requirements.

You don’t need to tick every box. The key things are strong cloud fundamentals, a practical automation mindset, and the ability to work well with engineering teams.

Nice to have

Experience with AWS certifications, serverless technologies such as Lambda, cloud security frameworks, compliance, FinOps, or Agile engineering environments would all be useful - but they are not deal-breakers.

Why this role is worth a look

This is a genuine cloud engineering role inside a growing Galway R&D team with a strong international product footprint.

You’ll be joining at a point where the company is investing heavily in cloud modernisation, automation, AI-led product development, and stronger engineering platforms. That gives you the chance to influence how cloud infrastructure is built and scaled, rather than simply maintaining what already exists.

What’s on offer
  • Hybrid working from Galway.
  • Competitive salary package.
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale SaaS platforms.
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, automation, CI/CD, containers, and modern cloud architecture.
  • Strong career growth as the Galway engineering team expands.
  • Collaborative engineering culture with real scope to contribute ideas.
