Job summary

Genesys Cloud is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud-native backend services powering a globally distributed messaging platform for real-time customer and enterprise communications.

You will own features through the full software lifecycle, improve platform quality, and help deliver resilient services for millions of users worldwide. Collaborate with product managers and engineers to meet business needs and maintain strong security standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend development.
• Experience building cloud-native or distributed applications.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Java, with ability to work across backend technologies.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and service-oriented applications.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication within cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable microservices that support high-volume, real-time messaging workloads.
• Deliver features from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support with guidance on larger architectural decisions.
• Contribute to reliability and performance through logging, monitoring, and observability practices.
• Participate in design and evolution of cloud-native services using modern software engineering principles.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver high-quality solutions meeting customer needs.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following standards.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to improve team quality.
• Ensure applications meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements (PCI, HIPAA, GDPR).
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity and code quality.
• Investigate production issues and contribute to incident response and service improvements.
