Job summary

Mercy University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 to lead the Endoscopy Pre-Assessment service. The CNM2 will coordinate pre-assessment for GI referrals, guide patient pathways, and work within a multidisciplinary team to optimise endoscopy capacity.

• Evidence of continuous professional development and proficiency in maintaining high nursing standards.

Are you an experienced Endoscopy Nurse seeking a leadership challenge? We are recruiting a CNM2 to join our dynamic, growing service at MUH.

MUH is recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Gastroenterology & Endoscopy, delivering a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic GI services and our Endoscopy services are scaling up — more procedures, more scope, more impact. This is an exciting time to be joining MUH as the new developments include additional suites with additional roles for all disciplines, especially nursing.

The purpose of this post is to lead and coordinate pre- assessment of GI endoscopy referrals and assign patients to the most clinically appropriate care pathway. The objective of the role is to avoid unnecessary procedures for patients and to contribute to the efficient use of endoscopy capacity in the hospital.

The CNM2 Endoscopy Pre-Assessment will work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team providing support to endoscopy unit colleagues and referring clinicians.

The post holder will report to the CNM3 Endoscopy, and is professionally accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing

Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for;

• Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, care planning approach.
• Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, delivery and review of service user care by all staff in designated area(s).
• Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership.
• Provide supervision and assist in the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes of staff and assigned students.
• Ensure that modern standards of clinical nursing care are in operation and that regular monitoring of nursing care is undertaken through audit.
• Provide learning opportunities for all staff and guide them towards research-based nursing practise.
• Monitor recent nursing research and new developments.
• Initiate, facilitate, and take part in relevant nursing research and promote awareness of ongoing and current research issues affecting patient care.
• Use the outcomes of audit to develop action plans and support their implementation.
• Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements regarding quality, risk, and safety.
• Participate and cooperate with local quality, risk and safety initiatives as required.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must be registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.

And

Have at least 5 years post registration experience (or an aggregrate of 5 years fulltime post registration experience) of which 2 years must be in the speciality or related area of Endoscopy

And

Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

And

Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.

And

Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
