Job summary

Medforce, Dublin, is recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager – Night Supervisor to join an established nursing home. This permanent, full-time role leads the night team and ensures high standards of care throughout the night shift.

The successful candidate will have a BSc in General Nursing, current NMBI registration, and prior experience in nursing homes with a clinical leadership background. A proactive, hands-on approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • BSc in General Nursing or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with NMBI.
  • Previous nursing home or elderly care experience.
  • Previous clinical leadership, supervisory or management experience is desirable.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to motivate and support a nursing and care team.
  • Flexible, proactive and hands-on approach.
  • Previous night nursing or supervisory experience would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible and hands-on clinical leadership during night shifts.
  • Ensure nursing and care practices meet clinical, regulatory and quality standards.
  • Complete and review resident assessments and ensure care plans are appropriately maintained.
  • Monitor residents who are clinically unwell or experiencing falls, pressure sores or other clinical concerns.
  • Identify and elevate clinical or operational issues appropriately.
  • Ensure appropriate clinical decisions and actions are taken during the night.
  • Supervise medication administration and ensure compliance with relevant procedures.
  • Liaise with GPs, pharmacies and other healthcare professionals regarding medication-related concerns where required.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and support to Staff Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.
  • Promote high standards of professionalism, dignity and person-centred care.
  • Support staff development and identify training requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication and teamwork across the night team.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for staff during night hours.
  • Monitor clinical documentation and ensure appropriate records are maintained.
  • Support clinical, medication, infection control, health and safety and environmental audits.
  • Monitor standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursing home.
  • Identify areas requiring improvement and ensure appropriate actions are followed through.
  • Promote a person-centred approach to resident care.
  • Support residents and respond appropriately to their individual needs.
  • Act as a professional point of contact for residents, families and visitors when required.
  • Respond appropriately to concerns and complaints.
  • Support the Director of Nursing with the overall management of the nursing home.
  • Provide appropriate cover and support for the Director of Nursing during periods of absence.

CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER – NIGHT SUPERVISOR

Medforce are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager – Night Supervisor to join an established nursing home in Dublin.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered General Nurse looking to take the next step into clinical leadership, with responsibility for overseeing the nursing home during night hours.

Working closely with the Director of Nursing and wider management team, you will provide strong clinical leadership, support nursing and care staff, and ensure residents receive a consistently high standard of care throughout the night.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Leadership
  • Provide visible and hands-on clinical leadership during night shifts.
  • Ensure nursing and care practices meet the required clinical, regulatory and quality standards.

  • Attend handovers and review resident progress.
  • Support roster management and daily operational requirements when required.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed to safeguard residents, staff and visitors.
REQUIREMENTS
