CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER

Medforce are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager to join an established nursing home in Ballincollig, Co. Cork.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered General Nurse with clinical leadership or management experience to take on a key role within a supportive residential care environment.
Working closely with the Director of Nursing and wider care team, you will provide hands-on clinical leadership, support and develop nursing and care staff, and help ensure the highest standards of resident care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Leadership
- Provide visible, hands-on clinical leadership to Staff Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.
- Ensure nursing and care practices consistently meet required clinical, regulatory and quality standards.
- Complete comprehensive resident assessments and ensure care plans are appropriately developed, reviewed and updated.
- Monitor residents who are clinically unwell or experiencing falls, pressure sores or other clinical concerns.
- Identify and elevate clinical and operational issues to the Director of Nursing.
- Support the development and implementation of appropriate clinical action plans.
Medication Management
- Supervise medication administration and ensure compliance with relevant procedures.
- Support medication audits and identify areas for improvement.
- Liaise with GPs, pharmacies and other healthcare professionals regarding medication reviews.
- Assist with medication stock management and monthly inventory processes.
Staff Supervision & Development
- Provide day-to-day support, supervision and guidance to nursing and care staff.
- Assist with staff training, development and performance reviews.
- Identify training needs and support the delivery of appropriate training.
- Promote high standards of professionalism, dignity and person-centred care.
- Support the effective implementation of named nurse and named care assistant responsibilities.
Quality & Auditing
- Review new admissions and ensure appropriate assessments and care planning are completed.
- Carry out and support clinical, medication, health and safety, infection control and environmental audits.
- Monitor standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursing home.
- Ensure audit findings are followed up and appropriate action plans are implemented.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality resident care.
Residents & Families
- Develop positive relationships with residents, families and visitors.
- Act as a key point of contact for residents and their relatives.
- Respond to concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Promote a person-centred approach that respects residents’ individual needs, preferences and dignity.
Management Support
- Work closely with the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day management of the nursing home.
- Provide cover for the Director of Nursing during annual leave and other absences.
- Support roster management, staff handovers and daily operational requirements.
- Review resident progress and contribute to clinical decision-making.
- Promote effective communication and teamwork across the nursing home.
REQUIREMENTS
- BSc in General Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Current registration with NMBI.
- Previous experience working within elderly care or a nursing home environment.
- Previous clinical leadership, supervisory or management experience is desirable.
- Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to motivate and support a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- A hands-on, flexible and proactive approach.
