Job summary

Colas Ireland seeks a conscientious Civil Site Engineer to oversee multi-site road works across local and regional networks in Ireland. You will ensure works meet specifications, are on time and within budget, and that crews and subcontractors are safely and efficiently managed.

Ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, relevant Irish highway experience, excellent communication, and a valid Ireland driving licence; a Managing Safely in Construction card is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Relevant industry experience in Ireland, preferably in highways, road pavement or surfacing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety-focused culture; Managing Safely in Construction card is a plus.
  • Full clean Ireland driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinating crews focused on road recycling/resurfacing to meet on-time, on-budget targets.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities, materials ordering and overall program of works.
  • Monitor productivity and resources to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure crews are recruited, inducted, trained, licensed and competent.
  • Prepare and ensure ongoing compliance with Site Specific Safety Plans (SSWPs).
  • Comply with company policies; conduct safety inspections, prestart meetings, SQE audits.
  • Liaise with customers and conduct site audits.
  • Prepare site assessments and safety plans.
  • Record site measurements for invoicing; maintain daily records.

As part of the global organisation, Colas Ireland is primarily involved the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local road network. In Ireland Colas operates from 14 locations across the island of Ireland.

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a conscientious and experienced Civil Site Engineer to join our team. The successful Civil Site Engineer will have expereince working in and following Ireland' regulations. You will be provided with an excellent salary and company benefits and be responsible for overseeing and supervising multi site based activities on local and regional roads in Ireland You will ensure that all works are carried out in line with the relevant specifications, on time, and within budget.

Main Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinating crews, specifically focused on road recycling / resurfacing, to ensure works are completed on time, to budget and in line with stakeholder requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities, materials ordering and overall program of works.
  • Monitoring and managing productivity and resources to ensure project is cost effective.
  • Ensuring crews (employees/subcontractors) are appropriately recruited, inducted, trained, licensed and competent to operate.
  • Prepare and ensure on going compliance with Site Specific Safety Plans.
  • Complying with company policies and procedures and ensuring all site rules, safety inspections, reviews, prestart meetings, SSWPs and SQE audits are implemented.
  • Customer Liaison.
  • Site Audits.
  • Preparation of site assessments and safety plans.
  • Recording site measures for invoicing.
  • Maintenance of daily record sheets.
Ideal Candidate

Relevant industry experience in Ireland is required, preferably in highways, road pavement or surfacing. The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and possess strong communication skills, a commitment to leading a safety-focused culture, and ideally a Managing Safely in Construction card. A full clean Ireland driving licence is required.
