Job summary

Lead Group Ireland are recruiting a Civil Engineer to support a major electrical substation project in East Cork. This is a site-based role, working closely with the Project Manager and site team to ensure civil works are delivered safely and on programme.

The successful candidate will be degree qualified with hands-on setting-out experience, responsible for surveying, coordinating with subcontractors, and maintaining site records in line with drawings and specifications.

• Hands-on setting-out experience is essential.
• Strong setting-out experience and ability to read/interpret drawings.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying of civil works using total station, GPS and other surveying equipment.
• Setting out foundations, drainage, ducting, roads, concrete bases and other substation infrastructure.
• Checking levels, dimensions and coordinates against drawings and specifications.
• Reviewing construction drawings and identifying discrepancies or issues.
• Supervising and coordinating civil works on site.
• Maintaining accurate site records and daily reports.

Job description

Lead Group Ireland are currently recruiting for a Civil Engineer to support the construction of a major electrical substation project in East Cork. This is a site-based position, working closely with the Project Manager, Site Management and wider construction team to ensure civil works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with project specifications and programme.

The successful candidate will be degree qualified and have solid experience working in a site-based civil engineering environment, with hands-on experience in setting out being essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting out and surveying of civil works using total station, GPS and other surveying equipment
• Setting out foundations, drainage, ducting, roads, concrete bases and other substation infrastructure
• Checking levels, dimensions and coordinates against drawings and specifications
• Reviewing construction drawings and identifying any discrepancies or issues
• Supervising and coordinating civil works on site
• Monitoring works to ensure they are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards
• Carrying out inspections and maintaining accurate site records
• Coordinating with subcontractors and other site disciplines
• Assisting with planning and sequencing of works
• Monitoring progress against the construction programme
• Preparing and reviewing daily reports, records and documentation
• Liaising with the Project Manager, Site Manager, design teams and client representatives
• Assisting with quality assurance, snagging and handover of completed works
• Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety and environmental requirements

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Previous experience working as a Site Civil Engineer
• Strong setting-out experience is essential
• Experience with total stations, GPS and relevant surveying equipment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Good understanding of construction methods and site activities
• Experience working with subcontractors and construction teams
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Previous experience within utilities, energy, electrical infrastructure or substation construction would be advantageous
