Job description

Chief Information Officer | Fintech | Dublin

Our client is a growing fintech business headquartered in Dublin. Technology is central to its proposition, and as the business scales it is appointing a Chief Information Officer to lead the next stage of its development.

This is not a traditional infrastructure-led CIO role. The business is looking for a technology executive who can shape how data, AI and third-party partners create commercial value, while keeping a regulated platform secure, resilient and compliant.

The remit
  • Technology strategy: Own the technology strategy and roadmap, aligned to commercial objectives, and report to the [CEO / Board] as a member of the executive team.
  • Data and AI: Build a data capability the business can trust and act on, and lead the responsible adoption of AI across products and operations, from use-case selection through to governance and measurable return.
  • Vendor and partner management: Lead the sourcing strategy and manage a portfolio of strategic suppliers and outsourced partners. This includes commercial negotiation, performance management and concentration risk.
  • Platforms and engineering: Oversee core platforms, architecture and delivery, balancing pace of change with stability.
  • Risk, security and resilience: Ensure the control environment meets regulatory expectations, including DORA, ICT third-party risk and information security, working closely with the CISO and Risk functions.
  • Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing technology organisation of [size], spanning in-house and partner teams.
The person
  • A senior technology leader with experience across several of: data, AI, enterprise architecture, vendor management and operations. Depth in infrastructure or security alone will not be sufficient for this role.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech or another regulated environment, with a working understanding of supervisory expectations for technology and outsourcing.
  • A track record of turning technology investment into business outcomes, and of explaining those outcomes clearly to a Board.
  • Commercial judgement in negotiating and managing significant supplier relationships.
  • Comfortable operating at strategic level while staying close enough to delivery to hold teams and partners to account.
