RecruitNet International Ltd has an opening in Cork, Ireland for a Chief II Cardiac Physiologist in a permanent, full-time role within a hospital setting.

The candidate will lead the Cardiology Department and Cath Lab, perform a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures, and drive service planning, QA and staff development to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Clinical Measurement or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Post-qualification clinical experience in a relevant setting (min 5 years).
• Leadership and management capabilities in a Cardiology/ Cath Lab setting.
• Staff rostering, supervision and training experience.
• Budgeting, procurement and service development experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations of Cardiology Dept. and Cath Lab.
• Perform and supervise invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures.
• Plan, organise and deliver Cath Lab services with efficient workflow.
• Provide specialist clinical expertise during investigations and procedures.
• Monitor and interpret diagnostic data; prepare reports for Consultants.
• Maintain and calibrate cardiac diagnostic equipment per guidelines.
• Mentor and support Physiologists, students and junior staff.
• Develop and monitor Departmental policies and QA programmes.
• Participate in service planning, audits, research and quality initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, governance and safety.
• Collaborate with Cardiologists, nursing staff, radiographers and MDTs.

Education

BSc (Honours) in Clinical Measurement (DIT)

BSc (Honours) in Clinical Measurement Science (TU Dublin)

Level 8 scientific qualification recognised by IICMS

MPPM – Medical Physics & Physiological Measurement (DIT)

Equivalent scientific qualification recognised by IICMS (pre-2005)

Job description

We are currently recruiting a Chief II Cardiac Physiologist for a hospital in Cork, Ireland .

This is a full-time, permanent role

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Cardiology Department and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab).
• Perform and supervise a range of non-invasive and invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
• Assist in the planning, organisation, and delivery of Cath Lab services, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal resource utilisation.
• Provide specialist clinical expertise during cardiac investigations and interventional procedures.
• Monitor, analyse, and interpret diagnostic data, preparing accurate reports for Consultant Cardiologists.
• Ensure all cardiac diagnostic and monitoring equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operated in accordance with departmental and manufacturer guidelines.
• Lead, mentor, and support Cardiac Physiologists, students, and junior staff, promoting continuous professional development and best practice.
• Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies, protocols, and quality assurance programmes.
• Participate in service planning, audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, health and safety regulations, and clinical governance requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with Cardiologists, nursing staff, radiographers, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver integrated patient care.

Requirements

• Hold a BSc (Honours) in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT);
• Hold a BSc (Honours) in Clinical Measurement Science from Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin);
• Hold an equivalent Level 8 scientific qualification recognised by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS);
• Hold the Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology;
• Hold an equivalent scientific qualification, awarded in or before 2005, as recognised by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).
• Have a minimum of 5 years’ full-time post-qualification experience in a relevant clinical setting.
• Demonstrate strong clinical expertise, leadership, management, and administrative capabilities relevant to the role.
• Possess experience in staff management, including departmental rostering, recruitment, supervision, and training of junior team members.
• Have proven experience in stock control, inventory management, and procurement processes.
• Demonstrate experience in budget management, financial planning, and service/business development.
• Exhibit excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
