Job summary

Mater Private Cork is recruiting a Senior Cardiac Physiologist with expertise in Echo, EP or Devices to join a growing team of Cardiologists and advance the Heart and Vascular service in Cork.

The role involves managing clinic workload, mentoring staff, and leading device and non-invasive testing to high standards, in a multidisciplinary environment. Prior accreditation or active pursuit is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years post qualification with competence in echocardiography or rhythm monitoring or electrophysiology.
• Accreditation with IBHRE, BHRS, or BSE/EAVCI or working towards accreditation.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage own clinic workload with efficiency and high quality.
• Provide staff supervision and mentorship; participate in staff training.
• Lead device and non-invasive testing to a high standard per department policies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team in the Heart and Vascular Department.

Cardiac Physiologist - Senior Grade

Full-time and permanent post

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Cardiac Physiologist with expertise in Echo, EP or Devices (CRM) to join our team at Mater Private Cork to work with a growing team of Cardiologists to further develop the service.

The Heart and Vascular Department provides a full range of cardiac non-invasive and invasive investigations and treatments including ECG, Exercise Stress Testing, Ambulatory Monitoring, Device follow up clinics, Transthoracic and Transoesophageal echo, Angiography, PCI, TAVI, EP studies and ablation; Loop, Pacemaker, CSP and ICD Implants

The successful candidate will work within with the multidisciplinary team in the Heart and Vascular Department providing expertise in ECG, ambulatory monitoring, Exercise Treadmill Testing, Device room follow-up and with experience or interest in device implants.

The key responsibilities of a Senior Cardiac Physiologist are to manage their own clinic work load with efficiency and high quality. Demonstrate support and staff supervision according to department demands. Deliver mentorship to junior staff with active involvement in staff training. Manage clinical leadership within device and non-invasive testing to a high standard according to department Policies and Procedures and internationally recognised guidelines.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Clinical Measurement Science, Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT)
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Clinical Measurement Science, Technological University Dublin (TUD)
• Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology (if qualified in or prior to 2005).
• Have at least 3 years post qualification and be competent in all aspects of Echocardiography OR Cardiac Rhythm Monitoring OR Electrophysiology performing adequate studies and give technician reports.
• Applicants should have an up to date accreditation with IBHRE, BHRS (British Heart Rhythm Society) or BSE / EAVCI/ Echo accreditation or be working towards an accreditation.
• The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and an awareness/sensitivity towards patient needs.
• Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage a high volume workload.
• An ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong IT skills
